• Pyramids of Giza - The Egyptian pyramids are ancient stone structures located in Egypt. Sources indicate that there are at least 118 identified Egyptian pyramids. Around 80 pyramids were constructed within the Kingdom of Kush, which is now part of modern-day Sudan. In present-day Egypt, most pyramids were built as tombs for the pharaohs and their consorts during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods.

The earliest known Egyptian pyramids are situated at Saqqara, northwest of Memphis. At least one step-pyramid-like structure, Mastaba 3808, dating back to the First Dynasty, has been discovered at Saqqara and is attributed to the reign of Pharaoh Anedjib. Inscriptions and other archaeological evidence from the period suggest there may have been others. The earliest among these is the Pyramid of Djoser, constructed around 2630–2610 BCE during the Third Dynasty. This pyramid and its surrounding complex are generally regarded as the world’s oldest monumental structures made of dressed stone.
