The two temples, with their distinctive style, are considered masterpieces of ancient Egypt, reflecting the glory and grandeur of the New Kingdom. To save these temples from flooding, the Egyptian government and UNESCO collaborated. The Temple of Ramesses II was dedicated to the four universal gods: Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and Ramesses II himself. This grand temple is also known as The Sun Temple of Ramesses II.
