Fort Good Hope - The journey begins with a visit to Fort Good Hope to delve into the history of this triangular fort. The Dutch established a long-term alliance with the Agona State to construct a permanent fort at Beraku. They accepted the invitation due to the potential for a thriving trade in gold, ivory, and slaves from the Akyem kingdom, located beyond Agona, and because private traders were exploiting the lack of Dutch forts between Accra and Apam.
Fort Amsterdam - From Breku, the next stop is Fort Amsterdam, a World Heritage Site located in Kormantin, Central Region, Ghana. Built by the English between 1638 and 1645 as Fort Cormantin or Fort Courmantyne, it was seized by Admiral Michiel de Ruyter of the Dutch West India Company in 1665.
Cape Coast Castle - The tour continues to the impressive Cape Coast Castle. Visitors will be greeted by local guides for an unforgettable tour. After learning about its history, guests are free to explore everything from the somber dungeons to the stunning cannon-lined walkways.
Fort Victoria - Following the Cape Coast Castle tour, the next destination is Fort Victoria, originally known as ‘Phipp’s Tower’ in honor of its first builder, English Governor Phipps. It was later renamed Fort Victoria after Queen Victoria of Great Britain.
Cape Coast - Elmina
Elmina Castle - The journey proceeds to Elmina Castle to uncover its historical significance. Local guides will once again provide an exceptional tour, after which visitors can explore independently.
Fort St Jago - Situated on a hill opposite the castle, Fort St. Jago is the next stop. A guide will lead a special tour before the journey continues to Kumasi.
Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park - A visit to Assin Manso Slave River is included. Known as the final link in the slavery route from northern Ghana, it was the largest slave market for merchants before transporting them to Cape Coast Slave Castle.
Manhyia Palace Museum - The tour includes a visit to the Manhyia Palace, home of the Asantehene, the absolute monarch of the Ashanti kingdom. Here, visitors will have the chance to learn about the Ashanti’s rich history firsthand.
Okomfo Anokye Sword Site - After exploring the Ashanti kingdom’s history, the next stop is the Okomfo Anokye Sword site. A guide will explain the history and significance of the mysterious sword in the Ashanti kingdom.
