• National Museum of Ghana - As the largest and oldest of the six museums managed by the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, it was inaugurated on March 5, 1957, by Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent. The archaeology section showcases artifacts from the Stone Age to recent history. The ethnography gallery permanently displays items such as chief’s regalia, traditional Ghanaian musical instruments, gold weights, beads, textiles, stools, and pottery. Additionally, there are items from other African nations obtained through exchange, including Senufo masks from Ivory Coast, Zulu wooden figures and beadwork from Southern Africa, ancient Ife bronze heads from Nigeria, and Bushongo carvings from the Congo. The art gallery, though small, impressively features contemporary Ghanaian paintings in oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and collages, along with sculptures in various media.
• Makola Market - Makola Market is a famous local and diverse indoor and outdoor marketplace and shopping district located in the heart of Accra. Visitors can immerse themselves in a vibrant day trip, passing by the women traders at Accra’s largest outdoor market. • Independence Square - The Independence Arch in Accra, Ghana, is a significant part of Independence Square, which features monuments commemorating Ghana’s struggle for independence, including the Independence Arch, Black Star Gate, and the Liberation Day Monument.
• Centre for National Culture, Accra - The Centre for National Culture is the country’s largest craft market. Visitors can shop for souvenirs among the stalls and negotiate prices at the crafts market. Additionally, they can enjoy drum and other local instrument lessons with the locals.
• James Town Lighthouse - Embark on a walking tour of historic Jamestown, one of Accra’s oldest districts. Visit the two major colonial-era forts in old Accra, James Fort and Ussher Fort.
• W.E.B. DuBois Center - This center is the home, library, and final resting place of the American-born social justice advocate, William Edward Burghardt DuBois. The Du Bois Centre features a museum with memorabilia and his personal library, an Open Air Theatre for intellectual seminars, lectures, workshops, and cultural events.
• Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park - The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is a commemorative site dedicated to Ghana’s first Pan-African, Prime Minister, and President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who lived from September 21, 1909, to April 27, 1972.
• Labadi Pleasure Beach - Labadi Beach, also known as La Pleasure Beach, is the busiest beach along Ghana’s coast. It is one of Accra’s most beautiful beaches, maintained by the locals. It’s an ideal spot to relax after a sunny, energetic tour of Accra, offering a variety of local, continental, and international foods and drinks. This is where the tour concludes.
