Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary And Cultural Village - Embark on a sacred adventure to the revered grove of Tafi Atome, the habitat of the Mona Monkeys. Discover the harmonious 200-year relationship between the Mona Monkeys and the delightful residents of Tafi Atome. These lively monkeys are wild but often approach visitors closely.
For over two centuries, the Mona monkeys residing in the tropical forest around the quaint village of Tafi-Atome have been safeguarded due to the belief that they are divine messengers. In 1996, the village initiated extensive efforts to conserve their forest and monkeys, while also offering tours to visitors. Thanks to these initiatives, the monkey population has grown to approximately 200, and the forest, rich with diverse bird and butterfly species, has been preserved.
Afadjato (Mount Afadjato) - Awaken your adventurous spirit and conquer your fears by exploring the trails of Mount Afadja, the tallest mountain in Ghana. Its peak reaches 885 meters and is part of the Agumatsa range near the villages of Liati Wote and Gbledi in the Volta Region of Ghana, which borders Togo.
Wli Waterfalls - After the Afadjato hike, proceed to the village of Wli, traversing the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary on a path that crosses nine streams to reach the waterfalls. The forest is home to a large colony of fruit bats, butterflies, birds, monkeys, and baboons. This is the tallest waterfall not only in Ghana but in the entire West African Region. Enjoy a 45-minute walk to the base of the three-tiered waterfall and refresh yourself in the cooling waters of Wli.
Day 2 Activities
Mt. Gemi - Situated at an altitude of 677 meters above sea level is the town of Amedzofe, the highest inhabited place in Ghana. Lace up your hiking boots and ignite your adventurous spirit with an early morning hike to Mt GEMI, the fifth tallest mountain in Ghana. Amedzofe was once a refuge for German settlers who lived in the village for over 40 years. The Germans installed an antenna on the mountain for communication from Amedzofe to Germany during World War II.
Ote Falls - Continue the journey to experience a canopy walk over the Ote Falls. The canopy walk offers a breathtaking view of the waterfall.
