The basement is dedicated to archaeological and paleoanthropological exhibits, showcasing the aforementioned hominids. The first floor displays items from ancient and medieval times, along with ceremonial objects and mementos from past rulers, including Emperor Haile Selassie. The second floor presents artwork in chronological order, ranging from traditional to contemporary pieces, including murals by Afework Teklie and other Ethiopian artists. Lastly, the third floor offers an ethnographic display, providing an overview of the cultural richness and diversity of Ethiopia’s peoples.

- Ethnological Museum - Established in 1950, the Ethnological Museum in Addis Ababa is largely based on collections of old Italian zoological specimens and ethnographic artifacts gathered by the first graduates of the College. Mount Entoto - Mount Entoto (Amharic: እንጦጦ) is the highest peak in the Entoto Mountains, overlooking Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, and reaching 3,200 meters above sea level.
Overview
It is a historical site where Emperor Menelik II resided and built his palace after moving from Ankober and founding Addis Ababa. Considered a sacred mountain, it hosts many monasteries and celebrated churches, including Saint Raguel.
The mountain is densely forested with eucalyptus trees imported from Australia during Menelik II’s reign and mostly planted during Emperor Haile Selassie’s time, earning it the nickname “lung of Addis Ababa.” The forest is a vital source of firewood for the city and was historically used for building materials. -
St. George’s Cathedral - Saint George’s Cathedral is an Ethiopian Orthodox church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, known for its distinctive octagonal shape. It is located at the northern end of Churchill Road in the city.
Overview
The new church was constructed on the ruins of a 15th-century church and named after St. George, as the church’s Tabot (Ark) was carried to the Battle of Adwa against the Italians, where the Ethiopians triumphed. One of the founders was Andargaye, and his daughter, Kisela Andargaye, along with her husband, Agonafir Woldeyess, are buried in the churchyard. In 1938, an Italian tourist publication described the building as a fine example of the European interpretation of Ethiopian church design. The Italian Fascist authorities set the building on fire in 1937, but it was later restored by Emperor Haile Selassie after the liberation in 1941. It is one of the most colorful churches in Addis Ababa. - Mercato Market - Mercato is the largest open-air market in Africa, spanning several square miles and employing approximately 13,000 people across 7,100 businesses. The market primarily deals in locally grown agricultural products, especially coffee.

Meskel Square - Meskel Square is a prominent square in Addis Ababa, often used for public gatherings, demonstrations, and festivals, notably the Meskel Festival, from which it derives its name. Concerts, parades, and various government and public events are also held there.
The word “Meskel” means “cross,” and the festival commemorates the moment the crucifix was revealed to Empress Helena of Constantinople. After the monarchy’s fall in 1974, Meskel Square was renamed “Abiot” or Revolution Square and expanded to accommodate annual Revolution Day and May Day parades on September 12 and May 1. Three large portraits of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin were erected in the square. A national monument in memory of those massacred by the Derg regime during the “Red Terror” of the 1970s is located at the square’s eastern entrance.
