• National Museum of Ethiopia - Begin the city tour of Addis Ababa at the National Museum of Ethiopia, renowned for its exceptional quality and diverse exhibits. Among its archaeological displays is the 3.5 million-year-old fossil of Lucy (or Dinkinesh, meaning ‘thou art wonderful’ in the local language), a hominid woman of the Australopithecus Afarensis species. Lucy’s discovery in 1974 revolutionized our understanding of human ancestry, showing that our forebears walked the earth 2.5 million years earlier than previously thought. The museum also houses remarkable artifacts from the pre-Axumite civilization.

• Yekatit 12 Martyrs Square - Located near Addis Ababa University and the Lion Zoo, Yekatit 12 Martyrs Square Monument holds significant historical importance.
• Meyazia 27 Square Monument - Also known as Dillachin (Victory Monument), this historic site features a Lion of Judah and a circle of relief figures and monumental panels celebrating Ethiopia’s liberation.
• Chiromeda Market - Before ascending Mount Entoto, visit Chiromeda Market, offering a variety of traditional clothing such as dresses, shawls, scarves, bed covers, napkins, and men’s shirts, all locally handmade.

• Mount Entoto - Drive uphill to Entoto, once the permanent camp of Emperor Minilik II. The ascent offers a significant drop in altitude, with the air scented by the Eucalyptus trees that blanket the area. From the summit, enjoy a panoramic view of the capital and surrounding countryside. Please note that the entrance fee to Entoto Park is not included; entry costs 20 USD per person.
• Ethnological Museum - Continue the Addis Ababa tour with a visit to the Ethnological Museum, located within the Addis Ababa University compound. Unlike the National Museum, this museum is equally captivating, showcasing a wide array of artifacts and everyday objects from various Ethiopian ethnic groups.

Established over 120 years ago as a wedding gift from the emperor to Ethiopian princes, Addis Ababa Restaurant offers a historic dining experience with a variety of options. Every Wednesday and Friday, a delightful vegan buffet is available, alongside an extensive menu. Be sure to try the traditional honey wine, Tej.

• St. George’s Cathedral - The tour continues with a visit to St. George’s Cathedral, one of the oldest and most vibrant churches in Addis Ababa.
• Mercato Market - After lunch, the city tour proceeds to Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market, where nearly every imaginable commodity is available.
• Tiglachin Memorial - The Tiglachin Memorial honors Ethiopian and Cuban soldiers who participated in the Ogaden War. It was constructed under Mengistu Haile Mariam on Churchill Avenue in Addis Ababa.
