- National Museum of Ethiopia - This museum showcases Ethiopia’s artistic heritage and is home to numerous valuable archaeological discoveries, including the fossilized remains of early hominids. The most renowned of these is “Lucy,” a partial skeleton of Australopithecus afarensis. A recent addition to the basement gallery features a display on Selam, discovered between 2000 and 2004, an ancient fossil estimated to be 3.3 million years old.
- Entoto Maryam Church - Likely the oldest operational building near Addis Ababa, Entoto Maryam is an octagonal church built by Menelik II around 1882 when it served as his capital. The beautiful interior, adorned with traditional church paintings, is accessible only immediately after morning services, which typically conclude at 9 am. A site museum, which holds a collection of religious artifacts and ceremonial attire from the Menelik era, operates on an irregular schedule.
- Holy Trinity Cathedral - Known in Amharic as Kidist Selassie, Holy Trinity Cathedral is the highest-ranking Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo cathedral in Addis Ababa. It was constructed to honor Ethiopia’s liberation from Italian occupation and is the second most significant place of worship in Ethiopia, following the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion in Axum.
- Unity Park - This palace, once the residence of Ethiopia’s emperors, is located in Addis Ababa and has been rebranded as “Unity Park” by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s administration.
- St. George’s Cathedral - The new church was erected on the site of an older 15th-century church. It was named after St. George, as the church’s Tabot (Ark) was carried to the Battle of Adwa against the Italians, where the Ethiopians achieved victory. In 1938, an Italian tourist publication described the building as an excellent example of the European interpretation of Ethiopian church architecture. The Italian Fascist authorities set the building ablaze during the war in 1937, but it was later restored by the Emperor after the liberation in 1941.

Yama tours has reliable and professional people with lot of etiquettes and local knowledge - We did a day and a half tour cum site-seeing with Yama Tours. My favorite part was the way in which Tariq and Tesfaye, the good English speaking guides, explained to us about the country's history. We went to Mount Entoto, saw the palace and the park, the two museums (ethnologic and national), Tiglachin square, Marketo market. We also went to some souvenir shops, went to buy the amazing leather products, spices (mitmita) and coffee. All along, they were very polite and patient. One and half days very well spent. I would highly recommend the tour.
