- Debre Libanos - Established by Ethiopian Saint Abune Tekle Haymanot in 1284 within a steep river canyon, Debre Libanos later became the political hub of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. It was here that Emperor Lebna Dengal welcomed the first Portuguese mission to Ethiopia in 1520. The original church was destroyed by the Italian army in a 1937 massacre that took the lives of 800 monks, deacons, and lay worshippers. The modern church, adorned with a domed roof and stained-glass windows, remains a significant pilgrimage destination.
- Portuguese Bridge - While locals believe the stone-arch Portuguese bridge was constructed by the Portuguese in the 16th century, it was actually built in the 1890s by Ras Darge in the traditional Portuguese style. The narrow span offers a stunning view, and the waterfall below, especially during the rainy season, is truly impressive.
- Debre Libanos - The Jemma River Gorge, marking the beginning of the African Great Rift Valley, is one of Ethiopia’s most dramatic road stretches, descending in a serpentine manner to the Blue Nile Gorge, 1km below. The gorge is accessible via a road that provides breathtaking views, with two bridges crossing the river.
- Entoto Maryam Church - The historic Entoto Church, located in its compound, is the first church in the Addis Ababa area. It is a peaceful church featuring the typical ancient architecture of Ethiopian churches.
- Mount Entoto - Mount Entoto is the original site of Addis Ababa’s establishment. At nearly 3,300 meters altitude, the hill offers spectacular views of the expansive areas of Addis Ababa.
