After breakfast, take an excursion to the cave-built church of Ne’akuto Le’ab (13th Century AD), famous for its collection of ancient crosses, manuscripts, and icons. If it’s Saturday, visit the vibrant weekly market in Lalibela. After lunch, explore the second and third groups of Lalibela churches. Overnight at Lalibela Lodge. In Lalibela, you will find about eleven rock churches organized into three groups.

Fly from Lalibela to Axum

Axum - Flight from Lalibela to Axum
Upon arrival, check into your hotel before visiting the Northern Stelae Field to see the 4th-century obelisks. Continue your exploration with the ruins of Dungur, known as the Queen of Sheba’s Palace, and the tombs of ancient figures like King Kaleb and King Gebre Meskel. Visit St. Mary’s of Zion Cathedral, the legendary home of the Ark of the Covenant. Overnight at Brana Hotel.

Axum to Hawzen

Hawzen - Mekelle - Addis Ababa

Mek’ele - Hawzen to Mekelle to Addis Ababa
In the morning, the driver will pick you up from your hotel at your preferred time. Visit Abuna Yemata Guh, which requires about an hour’s walk and a steep climb using footholds and handholds carved into the sandstone rock. In the late afternoon, drive to Mekelle and fly back to Addis Ababa.
