Ethiopia is recognized as the birthplace of the coffee plant, Coffee Arabica, which continues to grow naturally in the highland forests. Although the exact origins of coffee as a beverage remain uncertain, it is believed that its cultivation and consumption began as early as the 9th century. Some experts suggest that coffee was cultivated in Yemen even earlier, around AD 575. What is certain is that coffee originated in Ethiopia and made its way to Yemen approximately 600 years ago, from where it spread from Arabia to the rest of the world.
