- National Museum of Ethiopia - Begin the city tour of Addis Ababa at the National Museum of Ethiopia, renowned for its exceptional quality and diverse exhibits. Among the archaeological displays is the 3.5-million-year-old fossil of Lucy (or Dinkinesh, meaning ‘thou art wonderful’ in the local language), a hominid woman of the species Australopithecus Afarensis. Lucy’s discovery in 1974 revolutionized our understanding of human ancestry, revealing that our forebears walked the earth 2.5 million years earlier than previously believed. The museum also showcases remarkable artifacts from the pre-Axumite civilization.
Ps. Please note that the National Museum is currently closed for renovations for an indefinite period. However, the tour will be adapted to include a visit to the Addis Ababa Museum instead.
- Yekatit 12 Martyrs Square - Visit the Yekatit 12 Martyrs Monument.
- Meyazia 27 Square Monument - Also known as the Victory Monument.
- Mount Entoto - Conclude the tour with a drive up to Entoto, the former permanent camp of Emperor Menelik II. As you ascend, experience a significant drop in altitude and enjoy the refreshing scent of eucalyptus trees that blanket the area. From the summit, take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the capital and the surrounding countryside. After exploring the hill, return to the hotel. End of tour!

Great friendly tour around Addis Ababa - Had a great day with Desale who showed us around the city with enthusiam. We visited numerous sites including a really interesting trip to one of the city's history museums. Desale was happy to take us to any place we wanted to go to, and to spend as much or as little time as we wanted at each venue. It was a great experience and would love to come back one day

A Perfect Half-Day Tour of Ethiopia’s Cultural Gems - I recently did a half-day tour in Addis Ababa, and it was a perfect way to experience Ethiopia’s rich culture and history. Our tour covered Unity Park, St. George Church, the Ethnographic Museum, and the Addis Ababa Museum, each offering something unique and memorable.
Unity Park is a beautiful space, showcasing Ethiopia’s historical treasures, wildlife, and its modern transformation. The gardens are stunning, and the attention to detail in preserving the past while embracing the future is impressive.
At St. George Church, the architecture and spiritual significance left me in awe. The church’s historical importance, combined with the serenity of the space, made it a highlight of the day. The art inside tells incredible stories.
The Ethnographic Museum was another standout, giving me a deep insight into Ethiopia’s diverse cultures.
