Mercato Market - Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will clear immigration and proceed to baggage claim. After collecting your checked luggage, you will clear customs and pass through the arrival hall, where a representative from FINOT TOUR ETHIOPIA will meet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After a break in the afternoon, enjoy a half-day guided tour of the Ethnological Museum, showcasing artifacts and displays of the cultures and handicrafts of Ethiopia’s diverse ethnic groups. At the renowned National Museum, featuring cultural and archaeological relics, you will see the famous “Lucy,” a 3.2 million-year-old female hominid discovered in Ethiopia’s Awash Valley in 1974. Drive through the Marcato, the largest open-air market on the continent. Time permitting, you may also visit Ba’ata Church, also known as Menelik’s Mausoleum, one of the oldest churches in Addis, built in 1911, featuring beautiful paintings and the royal tombs of past emperors, including Emperor Haileselassie.
Drive to Aribaminch
Dorze Village - Departing from Addis Ababa early in the morning, you will head south to Arbaminch via Butajira and Hosaina. At Tiya, take a brief stop to visit the UNESCO-registered Stele fields of Tiya. Continuing with a lunch break at Wolayita Sodo, proceed to Arbaminch, arriving in the late afternoon. En route, ascend into the Gughe Mountains to visit the Dorze people. With about one hour left, travel to Aribaminch at an altitude of 1400 m to the highland village of Dorze at 2600 m, enjoying stunning views over Lake Abaya and Lake Chamo along the way. The Dorze people are known for their tall beehive-like houses and fine cotton weaving. Experience the preparation of their staple food made from false banana and, of course, try their food. Market days in Dorze village are Mondays and Thursdays, and in Chencha on Tuesdays and Saturdays. After the visit, drive back to Arbaminch.

Konso Cultural Centre - After an early breakfast, leave Jinka and drive to Mursi village to appreciate the fascinating culture of the Mursi tribe. They are famous for the unique custom followed by their women, who, upon reaching maturity, have their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. Then drive to Key Afer Tribal Market, one of the best markets in the Omo Valley, where at least four different tribes gather for this weekly market. Upon arrival in the small town, a local guide will escort you around the market to explore different sections, including animal, vegetable, cereals, and much more. Then continue driving back to Konso for an overnight stay.
