Essaouira, a stunning destination often referred to as the “Pearl of the Atlantic,” has been known since the 14th century as Mogador. Situated 170 km north of Agadir and encircled by ramparts, it is famously called the “City of Winds.” Its white Medina, adorned with blue doors and windows, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Paul Claudel once said, “There is only one tower where I know I’d like to be locked up forever, even to die there rather than return the keys - MOGADOR IN AFRICA.”

Essaouira continues to inspire numerous artists and international filmmakers, frequently serving as a film location. Orson Welles’ “Othello” was the first foreign feature film shot in Essaouira in 1952.
