Crete Beyond the Crowds - This private tour was incredible! Leonidas was an excellent guide — friendly, flexible, and made sure we avoided the crowds so we could really enjoy the beauty of both spots. The gorge was stunning with its waterfalls, and the palm forest at Preveli felt like something out of a postcard. We had plenty of time to swim, relax, and explore at our own pace, and the drive itself was scenic and comfortable. Truly one of the highlights of our trip to Crete!

Cold Water, Big Smiles, and Lasting Memories - From beginning to end, the whole experience was unforgettable. Sakis was such a fantastic driver—friendly, kind, and made the day even better. The gorge was breathtaking and absolutely worth braving the chilly water, and the beach at the end was the perfect reward. Truly an adventure I’ll never forget!

Great full day tour from Rethymno - Great tour by Leonidas! We are based in Rethymno and we were picked up at our hotel First stop was Kourtaliotiko Gorge which was stunning (a lot of steps to get down and back up and a very very cold swim to the waterfalls) . Next was a stop for lunch and snacks and then to Kalypso Beach and from there to Preveli Beach. I would say water shoes are essential for all three locations. Leonidas stopped off at view points on the way so we could take pictures and gave great info about the location. He also drove up close to all points to drop us off to minimise the walks and was very flexible with timings and we could spend as long as we needed at each point and return to the car when ready. Very enjoyable tour to the south of the island!!

Must Do in Crete - We had the pleasure of spending two days with Sakis and his son while in Crete for our honeymoon - first for the Balos and Falassarna tour and then the Preveli, Kourtaliotiko Gorge, and Kalypso beach tour. Sakis was a very friendly and knowledgeable host, and we really enjoyed getting to know him and his son. They let us customize our tour and decide how much time we spent at each destination - we never felt rushed. As mentioned in other reviews, they made a few additional stops each day as well. The Kouraliotiko gorge was a highlight!

Smooth Ride - Our driver was fantastic, skilled, warm, and incredibly friendly. He shared so much interesting information about both Crete and Greece, making the journey not just smooth but enriching. There’s no question that we’ll be booking with this company again on our next visit to Crete!

Great private tour. - Sakis and his son were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic hosts, they drove us in their smart minivan to locations that were not too crowded, but had all the amenities we needed. They left plenty of space for us to take in the views, didn't talk the whole time (which can be exhausting as a guest), but were open to questions throughout. Great day, thanks.

Kind driver, but tour felt more like a transfer than an advertised itinerary - We booked directly through the company’s website for what was advertised as a private tour including several key sights. While the driver (the owner’s father) was a lovely and patient man, there was a significant language barrier that made communication about the day’s plan difficult. We were not clearly advised on how the itinerary would run, and some of the highlights listed — such as the monastery visit and waterfalls — were skipped or only mentioned as optional paid entries without prior explanation. In some places, we were unsure how long we had to explore, and other stops felt rushed or limited to a drink rather than time to look around. The service provided was much closer to a transfer between locations than a guided tour with structure, commentary, and flexibility. While we appreciated the travel, time, and fuel involved, and the lower rate compared to booking through a third-party platform, the experience did not match what we had expected from the description. In fairness, the vehicle was comfortable, and we did get to see some beautiful sights — but for future guests, clearer communication, confirmation of stops, and more engagement during the tour would make a big difference.

disappointed about the tour - All positive reviews, but after some consideration, I unfortunately have to place a somewhat lower rating. After reading these reviews, I decided to book a tour with Crete Wanderers, specifically the "Wild Wonders of Crete" tour. We were accompanied by the father of the entrepreneur. He was a kind man but unfortunately not very talkative or fluent in English. In daily life, he is an installer, and during the high season, he helps his son with the tours, so he is not a qualified tour guide. We had to keep the conversation going ourselves during the tour. We missed the interaction and enthusiasm that everyone was so enthusiastic about in the reviews. Nevertheless, he drove us neatly from one point of interest to another, and upon arrival at each location, he pointed out where we should walk and then went to the local bar to have coffee. For us, it felt more like a taxi ride from point to point than a fully animated tour. I also communicated this to Leonidas, the owner of the organization (and also the father), and he said he was sorry and would take our feedback into account for improvements. However, in a follow-up response, he backpedaled and stated that the tour we had chosen was a beach tour, which is why it was less informative! For us, this wasn't the focus of the tour, and it is also not what is claimed on the website: Authentic Local expertise Beyond the crowds No cookie-cutter tours If we had known this, I wouldn’t have booked the tour. All in all, quite a letdown. Had we received more personal guidance, a truly private tour, I would have been willing to pay the 300 EUR, but at this point, we might as well have joined a group tour. I am only speaking for my experience on this specific tour, just to be clear. If you have a driver’s license: At every corner of the street, cars are available for rent starting at 60 EUR, plus about 30 EUR for gas. That brings the total to less than a third of the price. The roads are well-maintained, and if you search for the locations on Google Maps and connect your phone via USB to the car, you also get navigation through Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Its easy to drive yourself around the island. A personal tour for this road trip really adds very little value.
