This fort is renowned for its legends and supernatural tales. Currently, it stands deserted like Fatehpur Sikri, featuring a marketplace and an imperial seraglio. Originally, the main palace was seven stories high, but now only four stories remain. Folklore suggests that Queen Ratnawati (wife of Raja Madho Singh) had a supernatural conflict with her guard, who practiced black magic, leading to the city’s ruin. Historians, however, attribute the city’s downfall to a subsequent war. Visitors can also explore several temples within the compound.
- Chand Baori (Stepwell) - Afterward, guests can enjoy their packed lunch before being driven to Abhaneri, home to the largest stepwell built by King Chandra in the 10th century as a summer retreat. This stepwell compound contains many idols of Hindu deities, originally housed in a nearby temple, which were relocated here following destruction by Muslim invaders. After the tour, guests will be driven back to their hotel in Agra.
