Setting Sail on the Mediterranean

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I found myself standing on the shores of Agrigento, ready to embark on a new adventure. The Scala dei Turchi, a majestic white marl cliff, awaited me. Known for its striking beauty, this natural wonder has long been on my bucket list. As a former professional surfer, I’ve always been drawn to the ocean’s allure, and this time, I was ready to explore it from a different perspective—by kayak.

Our guide, Angelo, greeted us with a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm that set the tone for the day. With a small group of fellow adventurers, we were equipped with stable double kayaks and light life jackets that promised both safety and comfort. As we paddled away from the shore, the gentle waves of the Mediterranean Sea welcomed us, and I felt a familiar sense of freedom that only the ocean can provide.

Discovering the Scala dei Turchi

As we approached the Scala dei Turchi, the view was nothing short of breathtaking. Snorkeling in Crystal Clear Waters

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the snorkeling experience. With masks in excellent condition, we dove into the crystal-clear waters beneath the Scala dei Turchi. The seabed was a vibrant tapestry of colorful fish and fascinating rock formations, a hidden world waiting to be explored. As I swam alongside my fellow adventurers, I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to the ocean, a feeling that never fails to inspire me.
