Cusco - Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes

Aguas Calientes - Guests will be picked up from their hotel between 6:00 a.m. and 6:20 a.m. to embark on a picturesque drive to Hidroelectrica, lasting approximately 6 to 7 hours. The journey includes crossing the Andes via Abra Málaga (4,316 m / 14,160 ft) and descending into the vibrant cloud forest, with brief stops for rest and refreshments.

Upon reaching Hidroelectrica, a delightful lunch is provided as part of the tour. Following lunch, a 10 km (6.2 miles) hike to Aguas Calientes begins, taking around 2.5 to 3 hours. The path follows railway tracks, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and stunning mountain vistas.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes (around 4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.), staff will be on hand to assist with any final details regarding Machu Picchu entrance tickets. Guests will then check into their included accommodation. In the evening (7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.), a briefing with the guide will take place, outlining the next day’s itinerary, meeting points, and useful tips for visiting Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu - Early in the morning, guests will head to the entrance of Machu Picchu. They can reach the site either by:
• Bus (30 minutes, USD 12 extra), or
• Hiking (approximately 1.5 hours, partly flat and partly uphill).

Once inside, a 2.5-hour guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel awaits, offering insights into its intriguing history, architecture, and mysteries, all while enjoying breathtaking views.

After the tour, guests will return to Hidroelectrica via the same scenic route (approx. 2.5 hours). Arrival is expected by 1:00 p.m. to catch the bus back to Cusco, departing around 2:30 p.m. The anticipated arrival in Cusco is around 9:00 p.m., concluding the tour.
