- Sidi Saiyyed Mosque - Guests will be collected from their hotel in Ahmedabad’s city center. The local English-speaking guide will commence the tour at 8:00 AM. The first destination is the Jama Masjid of Ahmedabad (Friday Mosque), constructed in 1423 during the reign of Ahmedabad’s founder, Ahmed Shah I. Amidst the bustling activity of the old city center, stepping through the gates offers a peaceful sanctuary away from the urban chaos.
Next, the tour proceeds to the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, built in 1573 by Sidi Saiyyed, an Abyssinian in the service of Bilal Jhajar Khan, a General in the army of the last Sultan. The mosque is renowned for its “Tree of Life Jali” or lattice work on the semicircular arch windows, symbolizing the city’s grandeur. Following this, the Hathee Singh Jain Temple will be visited.
- Gandhi Ashram - The exploration continues at the Sabarmati Ashram (also known as the Gandhi Ashram), located in a suburb of Ahmedabad along the banks of the River Sabarmati. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, known as Mahatma Gandhi, resided here for nearly twelve years.
The tour includes lunch at a local restaurant. (Beverages Excluded).
- Adalaj Step-well - After lunch, the tour proceeds to the Adalaj Stepwell, a Hindu water storage site in the town of Adalaj. This 5-story stepwell was constructed in 1499 by the Muslim ruler Mohammed Begda. Stepwells were vital in the semi-arid regions of Gujarat, providing essential water for drinking, washing, and bathing, and serving as venues for celebrations and holy ceremonies.
- Swaminarayan Akshardham - The tour continues to the Akshardham Temple, a Swaminarayan sanctuary complex. This Hindu temple complex, which took 13 years to complete, is a tribute to Lord Swaminarayan and his teachings.
The tour concludes with a return drive to the hotel in central Ahmedabad.
