Today Drive to Bhavnagar - Lothal

Sabarmati Riverfront - Day 3. Ahmedabad
After breakfast, drive to the Old Town. First, visit Swaminarayan Temple, where you will walk through Altenhausen. Historically, the city’s neighborhoods were grouped together and called ‘pols’. Explore the old town with our local tour guide (changing tour guide).
The heritage walk (a must-do during the Gujarat trip) is a way to discover the country’s unexplored and neglected treasures. You will also visit Jama Masjid and Sidi Sayad Mosque. Afterwards, drive to Sabarmati Ashram, where Gandhi lived for several years.

The afternoon is free for leisure. You can go swimming or visit the alcohol store to obtain a license for alcohol and beer, etc.
In the evening, enjoy a meal at a restaurant serving typical local cuisine.

Drive to Bhavnagar (Lothal)

Lothal - Day 4. Ahmedabad > Lothal > Bhavnagar > Approximately 5 hours
After breakfast, drive with your car and chauffeur to Bhavnagar. En route, visit Lothal, renowned for its Indus civilization ruins. The city was inhabited in 3700 BC and was a thriving trading port. Continue the drive to Bhavnagar.

Upon arrival, take an hour to explore the city center on your own.

Then, proceed to the Palace Hotel for check-in. Enjoy the enchanting ambiance of Neelam Bagh Palace Hotel, designed by a German architect.

Bhavnagar-Palitana-Sasangir

Shatrunjaya Hill Temple - Day 05. > Early morning, drive to Palitana after breakfast. Palitana is the holiest site for the Jains. Visit the group of temples (over 800) on Shatrunjaya mountain. Daily, many pilgrims, saints, etc., ascend the 3700 steps in their own way.
A local person will accompany you up the mountain to assist. They speak English and understand ES, but they are not a tour guide.

It takes about 2 hours to ascend the stairs and an hour to descend. If desired, carriers can be rented. The carriers transport guests using sedans.

• The porters (a group of 4) carry guests using sedans. They charge about 50–60 euros and expect a tip at the end (similar to Indian customs). * However, JA, ES’s not, must carry himself.

Afterwards, drive to Sasan Gir.

Sasangir-Junagarh - Gondal

Gondal - Day 07. > Today, drive to Gondal, visiting Junagarh along the way. Visit Junagarh Fortress, Bibi ka Makbara, and Buddhist caves from Ashoka’s era. Many buildings feature a mix of Hindu, Muslim, and European architecture.

Then, drive from Junagarh to Gondal. Gondal is rich with 17th-century palaces. Visit the City Palace (Navlakha Palace overlooking the river). This impressive building, over 30 meters high, is one of the oldest and most beautiful in Gondal. Stay in a former palace, now a hotel.

Visit an Ayurvedic company and view the collection of Ravi paintings and vintage cars.

Gondal-Bhuj

Bhuj - After breakfast, drive to Bhuj. Upon arrival, visit the Textile Museum of Kutch in Bhuj.

Then, proceed to the hotel, located on the lake’s shore. The hotel offers a beautiful ambiance. Spend three nights in Bhuj.

Little Rann of Kutch - Today, drive to Bajana, an eco-friendly village, and stay at the Royal Safari Camp Bajana.

Relax and enjoy lunch (included today). In the late afternoon, visit the Kutch Wild Donkey Reserve. Observe various bird species.

Palanpur- Ranakpur- Jawai Leopard Reserve

Jawai Bandh - Drive through the mountains towards JAWAI. Visit Ranakpur Jain Temple along the way.

Then, drive to Jawai for a jeep safari to see the wildlife. Sleep under the stars.
Insider tip: If 100 people do the safari, 90% will see leopards. Few foreign visitors arrive DA. The scenery is stunning and appears washed out. The sky is clear, ideal for viewing the Milky Way and stars.
