• Kjarnaskógur - Located south of Akureyri, Kjarnaskógur is one of the town’s most beloved outdoor areas. This recreational space spans approximately 800 hectares and boasts over 1.5 million trees of various species planted over the past 50 years.
• Akureyri - The old town of Akureyri transports you back to the town’s origins. Situated just a short walk from the town center, heading south.

This area is a tribute to the town’s history and culture. Many of the town’s oldest houses have been preserved, and the original street layout has been maintained. Informative signposts provide visitors with insights into the history of a different era. On this walk, you will see the old Theatre, the old Primary School, and the Old Hospital built in 1827, the first two-story house built in Iceland, and the oldest building in Akureyri, Laxdalshús, constructed in 1795.
