Its name translates to the “waterfall of the gods.” The waterfall measures approximately 12 meters (36 feet) in height and 30 meters (90 feet) in width, forming a horseshoe shape that creates a mesmerizing display of water and mist. Visitors will have around 45 minutes to explore and capture photos of this natural marvel.
Following the visit to the waterfall, the tour continues with a bus ride back to Akureyri, taking a slightly different route. The journey passes through the scenic Fnjoskadalur Valley, ascends the mountains, and descends to the Eyjafjordur Bay, offering breathtaking views. Eyjafjordur Bay is Iceland’s longest bay, encircled by snow-covered mountains.
Before reaching Akureyri, the bus will pause at the Akureyri Viewpoint, allowing passengers to enjoy panoramic views of the town, the bay, and the mountains, and to take photographs!
