- Ancient Roman Amphitheater - The Roman Amphitheater in Alexandria is one of the most renowned monuments in the city. Alexandria ranks as the second most significant city in Egypt after Cairo. Amphitheaters were widespread during the Roman era, found in countries such as Greece, Italy, and Turkey, and are present in many regions across Europe and the Middle East. The Roman Amphitheater in Alexandria is unique in Egypt.
- Pompey’s Pillar - Pompey’s Pillar is a Roman triumphal column located in Alexandria, Egypt. Despite its modern name, it was erected in honor of the Roman Emperor Diocletian between 298 and 302 AD. The towering Corinthian column originally supported a massive porphyry statue of the emperor in armor. It is situated on the eastern side of the temenos of the Serapeum of Alexandria, which now lies in ruins.
- Bibliotheca Alexandrina - The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is a prominent library and cultural center on the Mediterranean Sea shore in Alexandria, Egypt. It serves as a tribute to the Library of Alexandria, once one of the largest libraries in the world, which was lost in antiquity. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina houses books in classical Arabic, English, and French.
- Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, descending three levels beneath the city, may not be among Egypt’s top attractions, but they are certainly worth visiting.

History and Heart in Alexandria - Traveling solo in Egypt can feel intimidating, but this Alexandria tour gave me exactly what I was hoping for—connection, safety, and inspiration. I was joined by a small group of other travelers, and the guide made sure we all felt welcomed and informed. We started at the Roman amphitheater, then made our way through Pompey’s Pillar and the catacombs, which were the highlight for me. The carvings and chambers were surreal—like stepping back into a forgotten world.
What made it special wasn’t just the sites, but how the guide explained Alexandria’s mix of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman heritage. I had time to take photos, ask questions, and just soak in the atmosphere. The lunch stop had great food and a beautiful sea view.
The city itself is full of life, and the blend of modern and ancient architecture was incredible to witness. The tour gave me confidence to explore more of Egypt on my own. If you’re a solo traveler wanting a well-paced, insightful trip with good company, this is a fantastic choice
