- Purple Island - Al Khor Island - Closely linked with Al Khor City, both were established by the Al Muhannadi tribe. Like other coastal communities in the region, its residents traditionally depended solely on pearling and fishing for their livelihood. Together with Al Khor City, about 1,392 hectares of mangroves are located just off the coast, making the shoreline between Al Thakhira and Al Khor City the most densely populated mangrove habitat in Qatar. AL THAKIRA MANGROVE FOREST is one of Qatar’s oldest and largest forests.
- Al Zubara Fort - Al Zubara Fort is a historic Qatari military fortress constructed under the supervision of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani in 1938. This 20th-century fort is the youngest and most notable feature of the Al Zubarah Archaeological Site, a UNESCO World Heritage site. A pristine example of a typical Arab fort, its one-meter-thick walls protected against invaders and helped keep rooms cool during the hot summer. The fort, recognized on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its preservation and as a unique example of a formative period, is an ideal place for enthusiasts of Middle Eastern history to explore military life in Qatar during the 18th and 19th centuries.
- Al Jumail - Located on the northwest coast of Qatar, the small traditional village of Al Jumail was once inhabited by the Al Kubaisi family. The village features a collection of significant traditional buildings, including a small mosque with its minaret still intact. This village dates back to the early nineteenth century and was inhabited until the mid-twentieth century.
