Great private for impaired mobility - My husband and I actually scheduled a private excursion to accommodate my mobility needs, but this is the closest tour to what we had, I believe. We started with the Poas Volcano with a stop at the Fresi Coffee and Souvenir Shop, where we sampled (and bought) delicious coffee and some gifts. Our tour guide, Eric Florez, arranged for the Red Cross ambulance to take us up the long, steep hill from the visitor center to the volcano, which was the only way I would have been able to see it. The scenery on the way was gorgeous and Eric shared about many aspects of Costa Rica on the way. Next we went to the Doka coffee farm, which was gorgeous and amazing. We had a delicious Cota Rican lunch and then Eric taught us about growing, harvesting and processing the coffee beans, showing us around the equipment. We sampled the coffee and chocolates there and shopped at the gift shop. Eric comes from generations of tour guides and is very knowledgeable. He was receptive to our many questions and seemed well liked and respected by the staff at the sites. He was very patient with and helpful to me. I would highly recommend him. Also, our driver was amazing how he navigated the steep, winding mountain roads. I never felt unsafe, even though it was scary. I would highly recommend Expediciones Tropicales!

Excellent customer service and value to your experience - From the moment I received my booking confirmation to the moment I got dropped off the experience was magnificent. Henry was an amazing driver ensuring the safety of all passengers, José was an amazing tour guide, showing the true love not only for his own job but his beautiful country, explaining every single thing very detailed and switching from English to Spanish to make sure everyone understood everything he was talking about. I can’t wait to come back to Costa Rica and book more adventures with Expediciones Tropicales Day Tours

Do yourself a favor and book! - We had such an incredible time. We had our 15 month old and everything was seamless and really fun. Pedro was our guide and he is so knowledgeable and skillful. There were a total of 16 people, 4 different groups, and we all bonded quickly. I accidentally selected the wrong pick up location and despite it being Christmas Day, I was able to easily fix the pickup location. I highly recommend both the specific your we went on and the company.

Great guide, great excursion! - We had a lovely ride with views of the central valley and the minibus was quite comfortable. It was very interesting learning about coffee production. We were afraid that we’d miss the volcano since it was covered with cloud, but then it cleared and the view was great.

Excellent Service and great goodwill! - Due to a sudden illness, I was unfortunately unable to start the booked excursion on the original date. I then contacted the travel agency and had contact with Daniel. I would like to commend the team and especially Daniel, Max and David for the quick, uncomplicated help and great goodwill. Without additional costs or long discussions, my trip was immediately postponed to the next day. Such accommodation is not a given and shows that the travel agency really values its customers. Thank you again for this excellent Service! I can highly recommend this travel agency.

Nice tour - The half day tour was actually 8 hours start to finish but we had a good time. The guide was very informative.

Volcano view rained out but nice day - This was a nice way to learn about coffee and its production in a more traditional fashion. The breakfast was nice but the coffee was excellent! Unfortunately, we had no view of the volcano, but that is just how nature goes sometimes.

Good tour, horrible traffic ruined the experience - The tour itself is fine. The coffee tour and breakfast were good. My main issue was with the transportation. The pickup was very late (~20 minutes after the scheduled pick up time) and I thought they had forgotten to pick me up or just straight up canceled the tour. When the shuttle was returning to San José to drop us off, there was insane traffic, as it took us almost 3 hours to get back into the city center. By the time we arrived at the drop off point, it was almost 5pm, and I had missed my other tour I had booked that started at 4:30pm, which was nonrefundable. I know the traffic is not their fault, but please keep in mind that while this is advertised as a half day tour, it will most likely turn into a full day tour with the traffic.
