Take advantage of a complimentary shuttle service from your hotel near Denali National Park, provided by our courteous and professional drivers, to our private airstrip located about 8 miles south of Denali’s road entrance. The shuttle pick-up time at your hotel varies based on location but is generally 30-60 minutes before your flight.

Upon reaching the airstrip, check in at our office and attend a passenger map briefing to familiarize yourself with our location and flight paths. Your pilot will guide you to one of our comfortable twin-engine airplanes and conduct a safety briefing before seating each passenger at a window seat. Shortly after takeoff, you will cross the Nenana River, marking the eastern boundary of the National Park. The flight path may vary with weather conditions, but you can expect the following highlights:

• Extensive views of all the Park’s features, similar to those seen on a Park bus tour
• Views of the Wickersham Wall, considered the tallest vertical relief on any mountain globally. This 14,000-foot sheer wall of ice and snow offers a breathtaking perspective of Denali’s towering size.
• Close-up views of glaciers cascading down Denali’s north side, including the Traleika, Brooks, and the extensive Muldrow flowing between the north and south summits at 17,000 feet
• Ridge-hopping along the dramatic Carpe and Karstens ridgelines, used by the first climbers to summit Denali
• Close views of the south side glaciers, including the deepest glacier (the Ruth), the longest glacier in the Alaska Range (the Kahiltna), the winding Tokositna, and the colorful Eldridge
• Views of the Great Gorge in the expansive Ruth Amphitheater, with its impressive 5,000-foot granite walls rising directly from glacial ice nearly 4,000 feet thick
• Views of Mount Foraker, Mount Russell, and Mount Hunter, the next three tallest mountains in the Alaska Range, completing the Denali Family

While this flight primarily focuses on Denali and its immediate surroundings, you will also witness the striking features of the 6 million acres that make up Denali National Park, including the vibrant Polychrome Mountains, the Toklat river basin, and the colorful contrasts of Denali’s vast geological displays as you ascend along the Alaska Range’s spine. Prepare to be awed by this vast, uniquely remote Alaskan landscape, best appreciated from the air to truly grasp its immense beauty.

After landing back at our airstrip, you will have the chance to take photos of the plane and with the pilot, and discuss the flight before boarding the shuttle van to return to your hotel.

Additional Information: The tour is complete with equipped headsets, wholesome narration, and each passenger gets a window seat on a twin-engine plane. Precise flight paths are subject to the day’s weather conditions. Expected flight routes will be shared with passengers during a pre-flight briefing. The flight duration is between 60 - 70 minutes.

• The duration of transfers are approximate, the exact duration will depend on the time of day and traffic conditions
• Denali (Mt. McKinley) is 80 miles away from our airstrip. Weather conditions at the Mountain will often be different from those in our area. Please feel free to call for the current pilot’s reports but know that we do not make decisions based on weather until about an hour before flight time. We will always send a driver to pick-up locations with the most up-to date information at the allotted pick-up times. Exact route and specific sights are weather dependent but due to our airstrip’s unique location, we are able to access either side of the Alaska Range when others cannot. We have the highest success rate of showing Denali to our guests of any tour option, anywhere.
