• Sutton-Alpine - Sutton is a small town situated on the Glenn Highway between Palmer and Glennallen. It serves as a convenient stop for refueling and grabbing snacks for those heading to attractions like Matanuska Glacier and Sheep Mountain on the way to Matanuska Glacier.

The Matanuska Glacier stands as Alaska’s largest and most stunning glacier accessible by road. The journey will take you to within approximately half a mile of the glacier’s face, where the hike will commence. Participants will spend two to two and a half hours hiking on the glacier, covering a distance of about 2 to 3 miles. The hike involves minimal elevation change and is considered moderately challenging.

Located about a two-hour drive from Anchorage, there will be a stop midway for a restroom break. During this stop, there will be an opportunity to purchase coffee and snacks for the outing. Bottled water will be provided.
