Upon arriving in Berat, the adventure begins at the historic Berat Castle, a fortress originating from the 4th century BC. Situated on a hill, it offers breathtaking views of the entire valley. This castle is not just a monument; it is one of the few fortresses in the world that is still inhabited.

As visitors wander through its stone pathways, they will discover how Berat was invaded three times by the Ottomans, Romans, and Bulgarians, before evolving into a powerful principality under the noble Muzaka family in the 14th century.

The journey continues to the Onufri Iconography Museum, housed within the beautifully restored 18th-century Cathedral of the Assumption of Saint Mary.

Following the castle visit, the tour takes guests into the heart of the city — the traditional neighborhoods of Mangalem and Gorica. Connected by the graceful Gorica Bridge over the Osum River, these areas are renowned for their white Ottoman houses, perfectly stacked on the hillside, earning Berat the nickname: The City of a Thousand Windows.
