Trullo - Fast paced, mildly rugged terrain. The Alberobello guide was excellent. Spoke English well and was quite knowledgeable. She was kind and patient with me considering my mobility issues. Now, the Matera guide was annoyed at my being slow. We agreed he would take the group on ahead and I would "do my thing". I had the best Aperol Spritz and hot chocolate (not at same time 😅) of my trip so far - Vittorio Veneto Caffe.

Very good but lacking key site in Matera - The driver and guides were excellent. This was a great way to spend a day exploring highlights away from Bari. I wish the guide in Matera would have pointed out th Chiesa A. Francisco d' Assisi so we could have visited it in our free time.

Fabulous customer service. - I nearly missed this wonderful tour as I could not find the meeting spot in Bari. Luckily for me Francesco made sure I got to Alberobello where I joined the tour. He was exceedingly kind and helpful. Matera is stunning.

Alberobello and Matera - This was a long but enjoyable day. We caught the tour bus in Bari near the Teatro Petrucelli. It was about an hour drive to Alberobello. When we arrived we hit the ground running, we paid for the guided tour. Our guide was great, knowledgeable, funny and understandable. The Trulli were cool. Not enough time there to explore would be my only feedback. Afterwards we boarded the bus for Matera. Same scenario, hit the ground running, but not as well organized. Our guide didn't speak English well and we could barely understand or hear him. Warning, Matera is scenic and historic, but this tour is challenging, up and down slick stone streets and many narrow staircases with no handrails. I can only imagine if it rained...I do NOT recommend for anyone that has mobility issues or isn't reasonably fit. The views from the top were amazing if you could make it up there. Again, not enough time to explore. Would like to go back on my own time and visit. Would recommend this tour.

Excellent tours but cautions for those with mobility difficulties - Both tours were excellent and the guides very knowledgeable as they have lived in the areas all their lives. They are not scared to discuss the less pleasant aspects of the area’s history. However if you have mobility issues be aware that the coach drops you off on the edge of town, and in the case of Matera this is at the top of a hill. The guide meets you off the coach and takes you to the historic area but this is a significant distance from where you are dropped off. In Alberobello there are a lot of steps and hills but the walk from the coach is flat. In Matera you go downhill to the historic centre then down steps made of very old cobblestones which have worn smooth over the years and are slippery. Even if you don’t have mobility issues make sure you wear shoes with good grips. Once you have completed the tour you then have to get back up a significant number of less slippery steps then walk back up the hill to where the coach picks you up.

It’s a good tour for a taste of both locations! - I bought a package that included a tour in each location and tastings. I didn’t receive any of the tastings because the guides failed to let the group know about how to do them. The tour in Arebello was hard because the guide had a huge group going back and forth in multiple languages and focused on so very little of the historical context.

Too short time due to little effective guide / tasting stop which resulted in too short time to own sight seeing. - The bus ride went fine. The guide was good but inefficient. The taste stop was nice but too long due to its own advertising. We got very little time at Alberobello to wander around.

Fantastic citites, poorly organized information - The cities were absolutely excellent and a must-see. The guides (Michaela and Giuseppe) were good and the bus as expected. But I do not recommend the experience as a whole. Skip the tour and just take the bus or better a rental car. We were a very big group and the first tour was in both Spanish and English, taking a lot of time. The guided tour did not cover the highlights in the brochure so we ended up half-running through the sights before the bus left - sadly no time to savour the beautiful Alberobello. There was a little more time in Matera, but still not enough to combine the guided tour with the highlights in the brochure. Had time to buy some foccacia to-go and half-run to the sights we wanted to do. I recommend spending a whole day at each place to fully enjoy them. The information in the brochure first seemed nice and informative, but the order of the recommended route did not match the order of the corresponding paragraphs, and neither did the names, which I think is the bare minimum. On our way to Alberobello there was a far too long session over the loud speaker on how to read the brochure, in Italian, English, Spanish, French, then German, 1-2 sentences at a time. This was quite tedious to listen to. It would have been much better to make the brochure understandable in itself. The long multilingual announcement actually hindered us reading the brochure.
