Fabulous wine safari! - Fabulous wine safari! We were picked up at a hotel 6 minutes walk from our villa. Hugo was a great host. We nipped over yo the old town to pick up 2 more - american girls from Tenessee and Geogia (didn't catch their names) then off we went into the rural hills to the north of Albufeira. Hugo explained lots about the culture and agriculture showing us the different tree crops; oranges, almonds, persimmon, carob and pomegranate. We stopped at a farm and sampled some marmalde, honey and piripiri with a mini shots of a few liquers and a final firewater! Hugo then took us to a local patisserie where we had a drink and a lovely Pastel de Nata (take cash). Then after this short break we were delivered to the winery. We toured the grapes in the field and tried a few grapes on the vine, had a tour of the making process and then a tasting. Sparking, white, rose and then red, served with a platter of cheeses, meat and tiny crouton style bread. We had a lovely relaxing time tasting and chatting. Then after a couple of hours Hugo arrived and took us back to the old town Albufeira. He would have taken us to our original pick up but we decided to watch some of the street entertainment for Halloween and eat before returning to our villa. All in all a fabulous tour!

Safari Wine Tasting Event - Had an absolutely fantastic afternoon with our guide Miguel. We were quiet and demure outbound and loud coming back! Our tour started late and he patiently waited for us. He picked us up from our villa on time and dropped us back in one piece safely. He was informative and if he didn’t know the answers to our questions he went out of his way to find out. The vineyard was gorgeous, as was the wine and nibbles. Such a lovely afternoon. Thank you.

Jeep Wine Safari - Jeep safari before stopping at an organic farm for tasting. Then onto the Vinyard. Here we had a tour of the vinyard and the winery with a comprehensive explanation. Then wine tasting and nibbles. Great driver Joao who explained everything as we went along.

Fabulous! - We had a fabulous time on the safari wine tasting trip. We were picked up from our villa in an open sided jeep, which was a great way to travel. Our tour guide was really informative, pointing out things of interest. We went through a few villages and stopped to sample local drinks and jams, this was great fun. Then on we went to the vineyard and had 2 hours there learning about how the wine is produced from the grape to the bottle. It was very interesting. We then sampled 4 different wines along with cheese, bread and ham. Really was a fun day out!

Huge disappointment - Expectation: comfy tour of area followed by wine tasting. Reality: things didn't go to plan and we were let down by both the tour operator and TripAdvisor who both acted as if they had not been made aware of our situation and closed ranks to ignore us. Our experience: the vehicle was ancient with no discernible suspension. Five minutes into the tour, two of our party with back problems alerted the driver that the vehicle was painfully uncomfortable and they could not continue with the tour. The driver stopped the car and contacted the tour operator and explained he had to take two guests back to their hotel. So the driver and the operator were well aware of the situation i.e. is was due to the clapped out vehicle and not a change of mind. As the driver spoke to the tour operator, I contacted TripAdvisor to explain and asked for a 50% refund as half our party could not continue in a vehicle not fit for purpose. Despite explanations to the tour operator and TripAdvisor we were denied a refund as the tour operator, according to TripAdvisor, did not confirm what had happened. We are disappointed that the tour operator did not confirm what had happened as we heard our driver explaining the situation to them. Extremely poor service from Alsafari Tours AND TripAdvisor who advertised the tour. Anyone reading this, please save yourselves from an uncomfortable 'safari' which took in one donkey and a few goats in a field of discarded farm machinery. The wine tasting was tasty in a nice location but you can do that without Alsafari Tours. We recommend avoiding booking anything through TripAdvisor in the future as they do not support their customers.
