A unique afternoon activity - The docents were excellent and really knew their stuff. They brought the ship to life with their information about how the ship was built and sailed and tails of naval battles and how the Providence was used in the Revolutionary War. The stories of John Paul Jones added to the historical interest level. Watching the crew work was interesting, especially when they were climbing the rigging and taking down the topsail.

Living American history - Great sailing experience; true American history (as told by the crew) on a real revolutionary war ship captained by John Paul Jones.

Embark on this wonderful excursion - Sailing the Potomac River with a wonderful and excellent crew was a delightful experience. Passing by the Naval Research Institute. Seeing in the distance the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorial while smaller sail ships and water taxis passed by. The crew was friendly, kept everyone safe while providing an inspiring 2 hour trip. Two days prior, I forgot my purse at the Maritim Museum and the kind staff secured it for me until I picked it up the next morning. Great and honest folks.

Great sail - Great sail and the crew was wonderful. I recommend the 2 hour sunset sail it was amazing to be on a working sail ship. The only down side were rude people not sharing the topside of the ship and staying up for more than 1/2 of the cruise.

Privateers, still the coolest - Everyone working on this ship was obviously doing it for the love of it. Just really enthusiastic, friendly people who knew exactly what they were doing. They really elevated the experience, which, seeing as how it’s a sailing trip on a pirate ship, was already pretty great.

Date night - It was a pleasant evening. I rated it a four because seating was uncomfortable. Be aware that you’re standing or sitting on a crate. Also, the gentleman who gave a bit of a history of the ship was very hard to hear. Missed most of what he said. The crew was very polite and concerned with safety up and down the stairs and walkway which was nice.

Sail aboard the Providence - Remarkable opportunity to be aboard a replica of such a historic ship. Crew was friendly and professional. Not much wind and a hot day so the sailing wasn’t exciting, but it’s always nice to be on the water. A bit pricy for what it was; plenty of ways to make the experience a bit richer, but my boys 4 & 7 absolutely loved it.

Very good, but check the wind before you buy your tickets - I look forward to going again when there is enough wind to make the ride more interesting. The crew was great, especially the guy who told us about the boat and its history.
