Creativity and keepsakes - We decided to find something unique to do our last day in Iceland after a week-long work trip. We found Monster making online and thought what the hell. We booked and took the 15 min ride to the workshop from Reykjavik. The workshop is adorable and the views are amazing. We spent time creating the perfect monster then watched as it was skillfully assembled. Conversation was lovely and gained loads of info about Iceland. It was a creative way to spend the morning and come away with a precious souvenir

Unique Workshop and so much fun! - My sister found out about this workshop while she was looking at things she wanted to do during our trip and I'm so glad she did! It's a little bit out of Reykjavik and we did not have a car, so I scheduled a ride with a service ahead of time. I reached out to see when I should schedule the return and they replied saying they can call a taxi when we're done, so we opted for that. The fare was about $65USD each way. When we arrived, we were promptly met by Alma who took us to the workshop. The workshop is so cozy and inviting. Once there and after a little bit of chatting, she talked us through getting to work. We learned that the fabric she uses for the bodies is basically remnants from the sweater manufacturers in Iceland and as a result, her designs and supplies are always changing. we easily found fabrics for what we wanted to created and got to work. We both did two monsters. I also bought a magnet and the book because I felt like my Skrimslis needed to have their origin story with them. In all, we were there about an hour making the Skrimslis and chatting. The workshop was private to us so it was only myself, my sister, and Alma. I would add to my Skrimsli army the next time I'm in the area as it was such a fun experience suitable for both kids and adults (our group was both adults).

Memorable Experience - Husband Regrets Not Making a Monster - This workshop is amazing! It is such a unique experience, and Alma is so sweet. We did this as a family activity. After we left the workshop, my husband said he wished he would have made a monster. (He helped our toddler son make one.) We did this on the second day of our trip, so we had our monsters when traveling around Iceland. We ended up buying more monsters in the airport as we were leaving. I highly recommend this activity for all ages. It is a memorable and fun activity with a one of a kind keepsake from Iceland.

Wonderful craft experience, unique souvenir - This was a wonderful activity for the kids, especially after our puffin tour got cancelled due to weather. A fun craft with a gracious host in a gorgeous setting. My kids love their wool skrimsli and we bought an extra for my nephew. Definitely 5 stars.

Amazing experience in a magical place - We’ve had such a wonderful experience at the Skrimsli workshop on our last night in Iceland! Not only is the location stunning but Alma is an amazing host who made us feel so welcome and made the experience unforgettable. Being here at the workshop really captures the spirit of Iceland and its people. Warm, welcoming and magical! We went to the black beach and did the golden circle tour but making our own little Skrimsli was a highlight for sure because we actually get to take a piece of Iceland home with us. And we were part of creating it! You can choose real Icelandic wool for your Skrimsli and the materials are recycled which I absolutely love - handmade and sustainable!! + you don’t need any skills only the joy of picking out the perfect fabric and pieces that make your Skrimsli unique and lovable! I also took a book home with me. It is the story of the Skrimslis and a story of Icelandic culture. You can feel how much love goes into creating these magical little beings! Honestly, if you want to take a souvenir home from Iceland THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! I promise you they bring so much joy and make you feel like a little kid again - a feeling we should all embrace more often! Thank you for the wonderful experience and sharing a part of the Icelandic culture with us! We’ll be back for sure!!! ** i can also recommend making a Skrimsli at the beginning of your trip. I would have loved taking it to the stunning waterfalls and other beautiful places to take pictures with it - such a cute memorabilia and I can imagine it being even more fun for the kids (that don’t always love the photo sessions)!
