Antiguo Faro del Puerto de Alicante - This was the first lighthouse in Alicante, constructed between 1844 and 1846, as a result of the port’s commercial boom in the mid-19th century. After a shipwreck in the area, approval was granted in 1842 for a temporary lighthouse at the end of one of the harbor spits. A spit over 300 meters long and a beautiful lamppost were built, featuring a hexagonal masonry building topped by a wooden tower approximately 30 meters high.
