Big Almaty Lake is a natural alpine reservoir.
• Alma-Arasan Gorge - The tour will visit Alma-Arasan Gorge, where a river originates from a spring at the mountain’s peak. Participants will experience what pure spring water looked and tasted like centuries ago. A 1 km hike along the river will allow exploration of the valley’s scenic views.
• Ayusai Gorge - Ayusai Gorge, meaning Bear Gorge in Kazakh, is a fascinating destination that attracts travelers with its waterfalls. The gorge greets visitors with three bear sculptures. Nearby, a visitor center offers essential information and services to enhance the tourist experience.

The journey to the waterfalls provides an opportunity to enjoy the fresh mountain air and admire the stunning scenery of the surrounding mountains.

First, the journey begins with a visit to Big Almaty Lake, located approximately 1.5 hours by car from Almaty City. Along the route, travelers will enjoy the stunning views of majestic mountains, dense pine forests, and scenic landscapes. Upon reaching Big Almaty Lake, visitors will marvel at how this expansive lake was formed atop a mountain centuries ago. This natural alpine reservoir is situated in the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains, 15 km south of Almaty’s center in Kazakhstan, at an elevation of 2511 meters above sea level. While exploring the lake, one can easily observe the lake’s color shifting from light blue to deep dark hues, depending on the sunlight’s intensity.
Next, the adventure continues to the Alma-Arasan Gorge, where a river originating from a mountain spring captivates with its pristine clarity. A hike of approximately 1 km along the river is planned.
Following this, the exploration leads to the Ayusay Gorge.
Finally, the journey concludes at First President Park.
