Get away from the boat and port and experience the warmth of Alotau - Our hosts were easy to find with their banners and had shade and water for us. We had a full day visiting our hosts home village and the incredible skull cave. Very informative and dispels some of the myths surrounding PNG culture. I cannot speak highly enough of warm welcome and interest from the locals. Take the time to invest in the local people and culture. You will not be disappointed

Incredible experience I'll never forget - Wow! What a tour. We met Shane by chance off our cruise ship looking for a tour. My wife and I both got a good vibe from him and his drivers and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The village we went in to was incredibly welcoming, and the Skull caves were must see. Shane's knowledge and communication was top notch. This was the highlight of our whole trip. Highly recommended! Thank you!

The road to East Cape has... - The road to East Cape has lots of construction and travels through a lot of small villages. English is the common language, so speaking to many locals is easier.

Very good way to see Alotau - Air conditioned vehicle, driver who spoke excellent English and the local guide was from the village we visited.

I felt that the tour was... - I felt that the tour was overpriced and we seemed to have paid more than other passengers. The vehicle was small and dirty and not comfortable.

Lack of intergrity - The only reason I gave two stars was because the van had air conditioning, This was a private group tour pre-booked by cruise ship passengers. 1. The guide was coughing and wiping her nose sitting right beside me on the jump seat. She had no microphone and it was basically too hard to even hear her for some in the group. She agreed to brief/explain things at stops, which she never did, including time to re-board, etc. 2. At the skull cave, we found out the included lunch was cancelled, due to “not getting prior instructions” ahead of time. 30 people had booked this months prior. 3. We were initially instructed we could use a credit card and found out this company is not set up for that after all. It cost 110.00 USD per person in cash. 4. After re-loading, we were told we would not be taken to the East point. After some major complaining, we got to go there, which was only 5-7 minutes away. 5. Our lunch on the bus consisted of 4-5 apple bananas that were not but half for the group and a plate of very unappealing fish. Due to medical issues, I could not eat the fish at all. 6. The time at the memorial place and the craft market was a total waste. Someone in the group felt we were supposed to see a better craft place on the itinerary, but I cannot verify this. 7. The driver was distracted by a talkative passenger beside him up front. He kept looking over at her when driving. Integrity is a value for any culture, whether low income, poverty or wealthy. Some of the money should have been refunded for missing lunch and the poor execution of this tour. It isn’t the meal - it is the principle of honesty.

Beware - you will not get trip described - Described tour is not what you will get. You will not get to go to Talidadani village and you will get no lunch. We went to an alternate village and got a piece of fruit. You went to a skull cave but not the one you would expect to go to. For everything else, the guide asked us if we wanted to go or just go back to ship. The guide was very poorly trained, and had no idea what our group signed up for. This is by far one of the worse tours I have ever been on. We were cramped on bus that had very little air conditioning. They did provide water which was the only highlight of this trip. The person who took our money was no where to be seen the rest of the trip.

Disappointing and very disappointing! - We had very bad experience. It was not private tour. They even didn’t have the private cars waiting for you on the shore next to the ship it was only old old buses which fit 10 people, and I was in one of those.! it’s not much to see on the island even woman who was our guide was very nice, she tried very hard to make our trip pleasant. But I am planning to call Viator and talk about that tour.

Very disappointing tour! Do not book! - Very disappointing tour for the price of it. 5 hours sitting in the back of a truck, no food provided, no waterfalls, no canoeing or snorkeling, saw a skull cave but had to pay $5 to take a photo, no Birdlife or trekking, did go to a local village to see local medicine. At this stage we were all hungry but local guide didn't seem to know about lunch or the other parts of the tour. Very disappointed! A total waste of money. Would not recommend.
