Welcome to the Bavarian National Sanctuary of Altötting, a town renowned for its miracles and home to one of Germany’s most-visited shrines. For over 1250 years, Altötting has served as Bavaria’s spiritual heart and Germany’s primary pilgrimage destination.
A key highlight of our tour is the Chapel of Grace, celebrated as one of Bavaria’s most remarkable and famous church edifices. The original baptismal font likely dates back to around 700, making the Chapel of Grace one of Germany’s oldest churches. Today, pilgrims continue the tradition of carrying wooden crosses in a procession around the church. The side walls of the long house are adorned with numerous votive tablets, while the niches house the silver heart urn of the former national princes of Wittelsbach.
