Unquestionably, best road trip ever! - Unquestionably, best road trip ever!
Our guide Nuno was such a great guy. We learned so much about the Algarve, it's history, agriculture and so much more. Lots of fun facts, laughs and wondrous stops along the way. The Algarve offers much more than its renowned sunny beaches.
From a superb view of the central Algarve coast to magnificent panoramic views from Fóia, the highest peak of the Algarve in the magnificent, Monchique mountains.
Lunch was delicious, lots of choice unlike some other tours. Choice of breads, olives and mixed apetisers, kebabs, fish, salads and a selection of tasty desserts all washed down with a rich, mouth-filling sparkling wine, with a delicious creamy texture and vibrant bubbles; made from the Portugese Negramoll grape.
We were taken to a deli on the way back and got to taste some of the finest local delacases. Black pig pork, honey pudding, and locally sourced licor from the Monchique region, made from lemons, honey and carob, offering a symphony of flavors that linger long on the palate.
This is an off-road experience you'll never forget. No long walks, unless you want to, that is. Take the wooden staircases down The Barranco do Demo (meaning ‘Devil’s Gorge’) Or just relax and take in the splendour of the rugged cliffs, waterfalls and valleys beyond.
You're in safe hands with Nuno, he is a competent driver and knows all the best places. Places a regular coach trip could never hope to reach!
Thanks for looking after us Nuno, we had so much fun.

Excellent tour - Nuno was amazing. He waited for us when the cruise ship was delayed. The tour is informative and fun. You go in the Land Rover truck and see so much of the Algarve. The lunch was beyond amazing. Would highly recommend this tour. It was perfect

Without Question 10/10 - This day trip was truly the best tour we've experienced whist traveling. We travelled in August and we still think fondly of our visit. Our driver, Autro was incredibly knowledgeable and as a result, I believe we really got significant value out of our holiday. Autro's deep familiarity with the area meant we ventured onto hidden routes that provided us with unique and stunning views and that we didn't see the typical overrun tourist destinations. The off-road portions, where we navigated forest paths and crossed streams, added an extra layer of adventure that my 12-year old son is still talking about. A delicious lunch and the chance to sample local treats and drinks only further enhanced the tour. We highly recommend this tour!

Possibly the best day trip ever - We've been on many day trips in many different places but this had to be one if the best. Our driver was very friendly and informative, not just pointing out the sights but giving all the background and the reasons why things were what they were. He knew the area like the back of his hand and took many routes that others would not have known to show us different viewpoints. The off-road parts of the journey were particularly enjoyable, driving on woodland tracks and through streams. The delicious lunch and the later tasting of local delicacies and drinks were an added bonus, plus the fact that when we reached the highest point of the area there was no mist and we could enjoy the spectacular panoramic view. We would highly recommend this tour.

EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS! - We were picked up right outside our hotel, and Art was our driver for the day, we had lots of fun and Arts knowledge and humour was fantastic, couldn't have spent the day with a nicer guy. The spots we stopped at had some outstanding views and lots of history were all very interesting. The stork story fascinating and seeing their nests on chimneys, power lines etc was a real eye opener. We had a mid morning coffee stop at a very friendly cafe then onwards towards the mountains, Art continued telling us all about the history of places and monuments that we passed. Also went through quaint narrow villages and different areas. The lunch stop was fantastic, the food was delicious and we relaxed with no rush, after much more sightseeing up in the mountains with breathtaking views we stopped at a lovely little gem of a gift shop near Monchique. A further stop at delightful deli with nibbles and liqueur tasting such fun. Would highly recommend Art and Frontera Tours & Trips to anyone wishing to see the sights and a relaxing day seeing all the sights of the Algarve.

If you only book one trip, make sure it's this one! - We were picked up promptly by our driver & tour guide, Nuno, from our hotel. He was friendly & polite and explained the tour itinerary.
We spent the morning exploring the coastal area of the Algarve, stopping at various locations including Alvor, Portimao, Ferragodo and inland to Silves, seeing some amazing views. Some places could not be reached by normal cars. Each stop, Nuno explained something about the history of the area, names of the beaches, bays & caves and interesting facts. The information was interesting & not at all boring.
We ventured off to the mountains where we stopped for an amazing 3 course lunch with coffee & drinks. We chatted with Nuno and all got to know each other.
After the delicious lunch, we headed off road further into the mountains, which was great fun, making a stunning photo stop on the way, before eventually reaching the highest point on the Algarve at Foia. The views here were something else, being able to see the Algarve coast and it's beaches.
We thought this would be the end of the tour, but we stopped again for fresh mountain water & an explanation of the cork trees, followed by a visit to Monchique village and then a Pasteleria for meats, bread, cakes and 5 different liquers!!!!
There was still one last drive past before heading back to our hotel.
The whole day was absolutely brilliant and we couldn't have wished for a better host. Nothing was rushed and we loved every minute.
We would highly recommend this tour......obrigado Nuno 😀
PS hope the seat is dry!!

Not as advertised - Cannot give this one 5 stars as it was not a private tour for us. Should indicate small group tour. It's all about representing the activity accurately. Tour operator didn't really ask us what our preference was or go over the itinerary prior to starting, but would have preferred less time by the coast and more time at the Castle in Silves. The vehicle in the picture was also not representative of the actual Jeep we were in. Price was reasonable given the amount of time of the tour.
