Visit the old fishing harbor, climb the Jamestown Lighthouse, and continue to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the final resting place of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Proceed through Independence Square to Osu Oxford Street for a guided tour at the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre. The museum honors Du Bois, a notable American pan-Africanist of the 20th century.

Arrive in the rural community for a guided walk through the communities, where most houses are made of termite clay with thatched or coconut roofing, and daily life revolves around the river. Kakum National Park
Kakum National Park - Depart the hotel early for Kakum National Park, a tropical forest reserve with a 350-meter-long canopy walkway suspended between seven treetops. Enjoy a guided forest walk and the canopy walkway.
Explore various highlights around Elmina worth visiting. Take a guided walk through Elmina, discover Fort St. Jago, and visit the fishing harbor and market.
Dine close to the Atlantic Ocean, where your table will be set for an African dance performance in the evening.
Assin Manso - After breakfast, head to the Central Region, Ghana’s coastal region. Stop to visit the slave monument and ancestral graveyard at Assin Manso, the final stop for slaves on the trail to Cape Coast, where they were auctioned to be transported to the New World under horrific conditions. The river where slaves were bathed still exists today. Slaves were sold in this town at the public market and auctioned at the trade hall at the castle to their final masters.
Continue to Cape Coast Castle and Museum to learn more about the history of the slave trade. The castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest former slave-holding sites in the world. Built in 1653 as a wooden structure, it changed hands many times – built by the Swedes, temporarily taken over by the Danish, and finally handed over to the British by the Dutch, who reinforced, rebuilt, and expanded it in 1665.
Relax at a resort and enjoy the beach in the afternoon, or walk along the beach to see the fishermen at work. The Atlantic Sea offers a beautiful beach to relax at Biriwa Beach Resort.

• If your visit coincides with the Akwasidae festival, celebrated every six weeks by the Ashanti royals, the itinerary can be adjusted to allow you to witness this memorable festival. Celebrated on a Sunday every six weeks, the Akwasidae Festival is second only to the National Day celebrations in importance.
• The Ashanti King, his elders, and other chiefs are always present at this festival, which attracts a large crowd. Continue the tour after the festival to explore the Kejetia market, the third-largest open market in West Africa, bustling yet fascinating.
• Overnight in Kumasi.

Unlike kente, worn on joyous occasions, adinkra is a traditional cloth printed with local symbols and dye, worn on funeral days.
Accra - • Depart Kumasi for Accra, arriving in the evening. Drop off at the airport for departure formalities.
Western Region Ghana
Busua Beach
Takoradi - Enjoy a city tour of Takoradi, visiting the market, Military Museum, the beach, and driving through the well-planned residential areas to view the old colonial residences.
Cotonou Benin
Cotonou - Arrive at Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport in Benin. Your driver/guide will meet you inside the arrival hall and escort you to your accommodation, holding a placard with your name.
Cotonou Benin
Ganvie - After breakfast, proceed to Ganvié by motorized canoe, an extraordinary town built on stilts in the middle of Lac Noukoué. Approximately 40,000 people of the Tofinu tribe reside here, and it is one of the last surviving stilt villages dating back 400 years. The Tofinu people built these villages to escape Dahomey slave hunters, who were forbidden by religious customs from entering the water. The Tofinu live almost entirely from fishing, and spending the night on the lake’s surface is an extraordinary experience.
Enjoy a guided boat tour in the village and continue to Porto Novo, the former capital of the French Dahomey colony in the 19th century, which remains the administrative capital of Benin today. However, this is hard to believe when compared to the bustling city of Cotonou.
Spend the night at the Songhai Centre, an innovative educational center for tropical agriculture, beautifully situated in green surroundings with agricultural fields, small stock farms, and numerous fish ponds.
If interested, enjoy an Egun dance in the evening (please inform the driver in advance).
Ouidah - Continue to Ouidah, a town with a rich history, also known as the ‘voodoo capital of Benin’. Stop at the pottery village Se, where you will meet industrious women creating beautiful clay pottery.
Ouidah offers a variety of interesting places to visit. The ‘Route des Enclaves’ is a historical highlight, recalling the thought-provoking history of the slave trade. It is a 3.5 km sandy road that formed the final stage of the route before slaves were shipped to the Americas. Other worthwhile places to visit include the Point of No Return Memorial, the History Museum (located in Fortaleza São João Batista), and the beautifully restored House of Brazil, which showcases changing art exhibitions. Other related highlights include the Python Temple, where harmless python snakes used in voodoo ceremonies can be found, and the Sacred Forest of Kpassé, where you can hear fascinating stories about the trees. Additionally, you will find sculptures symbolizing voodoo and animist deities and beliefs.
Ouidah - Visit more of Ouidah’s highlights in the morning. Return to Cotonou, do some souvenir shopping, and prepare for departure.
If desired, visit different highlights in Cotonou, including the Zinsou Foundation and, if interested, some art galleries, le Stade de l’amite, and the very large Dantopka market.
