• Lempuyang Temple - Lempuyang Temple is considered to be older than most Hindu temples on the island. A must-see for the fit and adventurous traveler, the main temple is located at 1,175 meters above sea level, atop Mount Lempuyang in East Bali. Visitors can reach the heights via a steep staircase of over 1,700 steps, with attractions along the way including several other temples and numerous grey long-tailed macaques inhabiting the cool mountain forests.
• Tirta Gangga - Tirta Gangga Water Palace was designed and built in 1948 by Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem (1887 - 1966), the last king of Karangasem. He was an extraordinary individual, not only as the architect of the water gardens but also for his hands-on involvement in their construction. Many were surprised to see the Raja working alongside his laborers, knee-deep in mud, digging out the pools and ponds.
• Virgin Beach - Virgin Beach extends for approximately 700 meters around a stunning turquoise cove flanked by rocky cliffs and bordered by tropical forest. The sand, though not pure white, is fine and squeaky, making it a pleasure to walk on. Offshore, at the southern end of the beach, Pulau Kuan appears like a whale on the horizon. Despite some development over the years, Virgin Beach retains its charm. Once a truly untouched beach, it now hosts a small village of beach warungs, each offering deck chairs and umbrellas to encourage visitors to stay. With fresh fish and cold beer available, the only challenge is choosing where to settle. The warm, gentle waves are perfect for swimming. Depending on the season, the calm waters can sometimes give way to two-meter waves, but usually, they are somewhere in between. The gentle waves are ideal for bodyboarding, which can be rented for 50,000 rupiah.
• Tenganan Ancient Village - Tenganan Village is located northwest of Candidasa, about 5 kilometers from the main road. It is a symmetrically arranged Bali Aga village with walled homes and unique crafts. The Bali Aga were the original inhabitants of Bali before the arrival of Hindu Javanese. Tenganan maintains its ancient pre-Hindu customs through a strict code of non-fraternization with outsiders, further protected by its surrounding walls.
