Amman - Jerash - Amman City Tour - Downtown Tour - Amman
Jerash Ruins - After enjoying breakfast, the journey begins to the lush northern region of Jordan to explore Jerash, located just an hour from Amman. Jerash is a top destination in Jordan, second only to Petra, and is renowned for its Roman civilization remnants outside Italy. Inhabited since the Bronze Age, Jerash is famous for the ruins of the Greco-Roman city of Gerasa, including the 2nd-century Hadrian’s Arch, the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis, and the expansive Forum’s oval colonnade.
The Citadel - Returning to Amman, the next stop is the Citadel of Amman, the city’s highest hill and the site of ancient Rabbath-Ammon. With a history dating back to the Bronze Age, it is encircled by a 1700m-long wall, reconstructed multiple times during the Bronze and Iron Ages, as well as the Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad periods. The Citadel’s most notable attractions are the Temple of Hercules and the Ummayad Palace.
Al Balad – Downtown Amman - The tour continues with a visit to the Roman theater, a prominent and impressive remnant of Roman Philadelphia, and a highlight for many visitors to Amman. A stroll through downtown offers a chance to explore the old souks and shops, and perhaps sample Kunafa, a Jordanian pastry made with sweet goat cheese.
Amman - Later, transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Amman - Madaba - Mount Nebo - Shobak - Petra
Mount Nebo - After breakfast, a 40-minute drive south of Amman leads to Mount Nebo, the memorial of Prophet Moses, where he viewed the promised land.
Madaba - The journey continues to Madaba and the St George Church, home to the oldest surviving original mosaic map of the Holy Land, particularly Jerusalem.
Shobak Castle - A longer drive of about 2 hours takes you to Shoubak, where the “royal mountain” Montreal, or Mons Regalis, stands. This was the first Crusader fortress in a series of strongholds in Oultrejourdain, east of the Jordan River. Baldwin I, King of Jerusalem, commissioned its construction in 1115 to control caravan routes between Syria and Egypt.
Petra - The day concludes with a 60-minute drive to Petra for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.
Petra - Wadi Rum
Petra - After breakfast, the adventure continues to Jordan’s crown jewel and ultimate travel destination, the ancient lost city of Petra! Carved into stone by the Nabateans with simple tools 1500 years ago, the beauty and grandeur of Al Khazna are breathtaking as it emerges at the end of the Siq, the pathway to Petra.
Wadi Rum - Following the visit, a 90-minute drive leads to Wadi Rum, the “valley of the moon.” Upon arrival at the camp, enjoy a Bedouin specialty dinner: ZARB. This dish combines lamb, chicken, rice, potatoes, and carrots, cooked underground with flaming coals, resulting in a delicious smoked, steamed, and grilled meal. After dinner, stargazing is a must, thanks to the area’s lack of light pollution. Overnight at the Wadi Rum camp.
Wadi Rum - Dead Sea
Wadi Rum - After breakfast, explore the Martian-like desert in a 4X4 pickup for a couple of hours, visiting Al Khaza’ali, a natural rock formation resembling the Siq in Petra, and Lawrence’s spring. Enjoy Bedouin tea with local Bedouins.
Dead Sea - Later, head to the lowest point on earth, 430 meters below sea level, to the Dead Sea, the world’s saltiest lake. The mineral-rich waters offer high therapeutic value, perfect for a day of relaxation by the Dead Sea beach. Overnight at your Dead Sea resort.
