The Pink Lake’s unique color is attributed to the presence of specific microorganisms, particularly Dunaliella salina, a type of algae. These algae flourish in the lake’s high salt concentration, similar to the Dead Sea’s environment. Dunaliella salina produces a pigment called beta-carotene, which imparts the water with its reddish-pink hue. This pigment also gives the lake a rich, vibrant look, especially during the warm summer months when the algae bloom abundantly.
