Great look back in time - Interesting small museum. We really enjoyed the opportunity to tour the inside of an old canal house, and especially to see the hidden church in the attic. Keep in mind that you will have to go up and down a lot of steep stairs to experience this museum, but it is well worth it.

Holy moly we made it! - We missed our reservation time, but they were very accommodating and we got to go in. The café was a great place to rest and warm up. The cappuccino and mint tea were delicious. Great gift shop as well.

A Must See. - I had long wanted to visit this museum since I learned of it a few years ago. I found the idea of a man so devout in his Catholic faith that he build a church in his attic, fascinating and inspiring. Finally, on this trip to see my daughter I had a chance to go. First impressions were good; the staff were very friendly. All of the floors of the house are beautifully preserved showing what life was like in the 17th century. The audio guide is a must. It explains the house, the times, the creation of the church in excellent detail. The highlight is the church itself. I sat and reflected on the dedication of the man who created it. Some recommendations: - book online - allow 2 hours for a proper appreciation of the museum - understand that the stairs, of which there are a lot, are steep and narrow! Don’t visit if you have issues with stairs

A literal hidden gem - It was a last minute decision to go to this museum but was recommended to me by a relative. I would highly recommend. Such interesting history about how this Catholic church was hidden from most of the public for many years. It’s a beautiful museum and I would think be of interest to all.

Remarkable - This is definitely a place worth visiting. It is remarkable that a church this size was constructed through the attics of adjoining houses. It is also in an unexpected location. Audio tour comes with the ticket and is interesting and not too long.

A Hidden Gem Full of History and Heart - Museum Our Lord in the Attic is truly one of Amsterdam’s hidden treasures! From the outside, it looks like an ordinary canal house, but inside, it reveals a fascinating story of faith, resilience, and creativity. Walking through the narrow staircases and beautifully preserved rooms felt like stepping back in time. The highlight, of course, is the secret church tucked away in the attic, an absolutely breath taking space that left me in awe. The audio guide was excellent, offering just the right amount of detail without feeling overwhelming, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the museum’s history. It’s a powerful reminder of Amsterdam’s tolerance and rich cultural past. A must-visit for anyone who enjoys discovering hidden gems and meaningful stories beyond the usual tourist spots!

Big surprise. - Even for a born and raised Amsterdammer like me, this visit was a big surprise. Much more than just the interesting hiding church in itself. Really a glimpse into the history of Amsterdam, of the religions and especially of the tolerance at that time. Highly recommended.
