Nice smaller boat tour - We loved this tour. It was very informative and a highlight of our trip. The boat we were on was built in 1928. It was nice to be on a smaller boat than the larger group tours.

Early morning best time to cruise canal. - Tony was a knowledgeable guide, imparting his love of Amsterdam, Holland and the Netherlands (and telling us the differences)! Comfortable ride, canals were empty early in the morning. Well worth getting up in the dark for the experience.

Good small group tour - Jan led a fun and engaging tour of Amsterdam. The boat only holds 12 people, so it was conversational and personalized to the guests on board. He's an expert captain and the Jonckvrouw is a beautiful, comfortable boat with great history.

What a wonderful boat, guide and way to see and learn about Amsterdam! - We had a wonderful time with Jan as our guide....full of life, humour and TONS of excellent information about the canals, life in Amsterdam in general, its history, attractions and off-the-beaten-path places to go and see. Well-worth doing...the boat is smaller...maybe a dozen people at most, so intimate, wooden and a historical craft...SO much better than the plastic-filled tour boats with 50+ people on them. Easy to ask questions and get detailed answers! Overall time on the tour was about an hour and a half...and we enjoyed absolutely every minute of it. Yes, it's more expensive than the big boats..but you DO seem to get what you pay for...and we were delighted with our trip and value for money.

Great experience - This experience is much better than the cattle boat commercial style you see everywhere else. It is a small intimate group on a wonderful boat with lots of history. Gisela was a great guide. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions and gave some great food recommendations.

Americans who are Politically: Center to Conservative NOT FOR YOU, Liberals will be fine. - Will be Dutch direct, but will try to be fair. Real rating 2.5 stars as an average based on the below ratings by category: 5 Stars to: Did not have Captain Dave. The boat captain was engaging and very knowledgeable about Amsterdam, Holland, and Dutch History....if only he could keep it to that, more later. 4 Stars to: The boat. Absolutely beautiful boat, and we appreciated the historic significance and intimate setting (sugar bread was a lovely touch). However, if it is going to be nice weather, we would recommend an open-air boat, as you really could not appreciate the significance of being on the canal since visibility was reduced being inside the boat. 1 Star to: Our captain began with "no politics," and if only that were true. We really wanted to engage with Dutch people and learn about the culture and history. Instead, we received excessive lecturing with personal, political, and Eurocentric perspectives on current American politics and about our majority-elected (we might add) administration. Much was based on incorrectly cited facts (we fact-checked later on things that we were suspicious about). Conclusion: We came away annoyed by the experience and wished we had made a different choice on how to spend our morning.
