Cycling Amsterdam - Cycling is the best way to get around the city. Using MacBike was an easy and convenient way to hire bikes and at a reasonable price.

happy experience for a solo traveller - Bike was solid and very happy using it. Staff member was very helpful with clear instructions and gave me time to get acquainted. Also gave advice on places to go (or not to!) tailored to my interests. Very pleased.

Made our experience in Amsterdam amazing. - We rented two e-bikes from MacBike for two days. This made our experience in Amsterdam AMAZING. We were able to get around the city very easily and got to see so much more than we would have if we chose to just walk or even use transit. Would highly recommend e-bikes from MacBike. They come with two types of locks, one to lock the wheel, and a chain lock. They also provided us with battery chargers since we had the bikes for more than one day. Great service, would rent from MacBike again on future trips to Amsterdam.

Renting a bike that has hand brakes with Macbike - The bike was easy to use and had a convenient locking system. The shop owner explained clearly the rules for cycling around Amsterdam. I would say this is best as an inner city bike rather than for cycling out of town. If you want to explore further afield maybe check their other bike options or go elsewhere. The plus point of the bike being so visibly a tourist bike is that locals will navigate around you because they know you are less familiar with their biking customs.

Best way to explore Amsterdam - We rented 2 bikes at central station but that was closed when we arrived at the arranged time. There was no sign at the door. I had to search my confirmation mail and call. They told us to come to another store 10 minutes walk. There everything was allright and we got the bikes in a couple of minutes. The bikes were good. Bringing back the bikes went smoothly. It's the best way to explore Amsterdam.

Don’t rent here! - We rented bikes for 3 days from their central station location. We wanted to leave our luggage as we were biking out of town. I even wrote to them before I made the reservation asking if they were keeping our luggage and they responded yes, for free - we were reserving for that location. When we arrived the person said that they offer this service, but not at that location due to some odd law about their central location…he then said we could go to luggage storage place. After giving us inaccurate info about how to find it, we finally found it. After some stress we found 2 lockers, stored our bags and returned to the shop…an hour later! We then heard him say to another couple that they had a shop 5 minutes away! Why did he not tell us this, we would have just gone to that other location, instead we spent $50+ dollars storing our luggage! The bikes themselves were awful…very old and very heavy. We asked the person about the route we wanted to take and he showed little interest and just said google map it. We had the Fietsknoop app, but he showed no interest in trying to get us on the right track. Just disinterested. I would never rent from this company again!

Mac Bike a terrible experience - The bikes provided were absolutely awful. We did a 5 day rental to travel around the Netherlands. The country side and the routes we took to Harlem, Edam, Volendam and Marken Islands for example was beautiful. Unfortunately the bikes provided were terrible. No effort was made at all by the Rental Company to fit the bikes for some extended riding even though it was clear we would have the bikes for 5 days. No handle bar height adjustments nothing. The bikes were excessively heavy and the seats awful. We stopped at bike stores along the way and purchased gel covers this helped a bit but the seats were well beyond acceptable. No effort was made to provide anything more suitable by Mac Bikes. Perhaps for an hour rental around the city the bikes would be passable. If you’re going to ride for a few hours to see some sights and might do a few days find another outlet that will at least make an effort to fit the bike to you and get a seat that is possible to sit on and won’t destroy the experience.

Embarrassing, scam - Unserious Enterprise. They take advantage of the fact that they're known. They wouldn't let us rent the basic (cheaper) bikes saying they didn't have them when there were several on view in the store. We hire them expressly saying WITHOUT INSURANCE since we have private insurance, the employee records the data he asks you on a tablet and then signs a receipt. When we returned the bikes 3 days later, they charged us the insurance (42€) saying we had said yes. Impossible to prove, our word against yours, you're a tourist take advantage. There are many more rental shops, 2 in the same street at mid-rise. I wouldn't rent here again.
