This site offers an excellent glimpse into the Zaanstreek of the 18th and 19th centuries. Walking among the traditional timber houses and windmills, you’ll feel transported to a bygone era. We will stroll along the dike next to the river Zaan and admire the sight of multiple industrial windmills. We’ll visit a working windmill that still produces goods. Having grown up in a windmill, we can share extensive knowledge about them!
• Wooden Shoe Workshop of Zaanse Schans - Wooden shoe craft demonstration. Ever wondered how clogs are made? Join the wooden shoe craft demonstration to find out. In the clog museum, we’ll tell you everything about clogs. You can even try on or purchase a pair of wooden shoes!
• Kooijman Souvenirs & Clogs Wooden Shoe Workshop - Paint your own clog! This workshop is perfect for children. Unleash your inner Picasso by painting your own wooden shoe. Your host will explain the basic rules of clog painting. Enjoy a drink, Dutch cookies, and candies while letting your creativity flow! A special quick-drying paint is used, so you can take your wooden shoe home after the tour.
