Windmills up close - It was lovely. Taos was our guide and a treasure. Beautiful place and people. Go to bathroom at the coffee shop before you leave for best results ;)

Brilliant day out - It was a glorious sunny day. The bus trip was short. And then we met Toes (family nickname) a remarkable tour guide. Toes actually lives and works in this amazing village and knows the answer to every question! But be warned this is a solid 3 hours of walking. Not great for people like me with a dodgy knee.

Great tour. Worth the visit. Should not be missed. - We had a wonderful time on this tour of such a quaint town. Our tour guide, Kate, who is an actual resident of this town, provided us with a lot of interesting history and information about the area. Greatly enjoyed the clog demonstration. Highly recommend this tour!

Great for kids! - One of our favorite stops on the trip. Our guide, Tosca, was fantastic. Bus was clean and comfortable. Our kids are 12, 14, and 16 and they loved this experience.

Terrific location to... - Terrific location to visit; lots to see and experience. The windmills along with the cheese and clog making workshops were the highlights. It would have been appreciated to have had a little more personal time to explore as it was limited.

History saved - This tour is 5 relocated windmills and traditional houses which were saved by a man who wanted to save his heritage the trip was by bus from Amsterdam meeting point near the main train station and easy to find, there are 3 different things to do on the tour which are in the same heritage site area, the mills, cheese making demonstration and tasting the a clog making demonstration and all were very interesting. The tour was easy on the body with flat ground and pleasant walk through the village. Tour guides were great with lots of information.

Interesting but... - The information we received was interesting. There really wasn't enough time to look in the gift store or purchase something at the cafe. We felt rushed. Difficult to hear the narration on the bus.

Zaanse Shans group tour. - Once across the bridge to the museum (not an old village as advertised) It is a lovely place, but not authentic- it was set up in the 1970s for tourists. Some good examples of architecture of houses and windmills along a river, dyke. Very picturesque until you face the other way to see three huge modern factories. The guide was okay, a little abrupt at times. Transport - pick up and drop off were good. Small group - perfect for a trip like this. Tip - look for the hotel/cafe not the train station when looking for pick up.
