- Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center - The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a refuge committed to the protection of Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, research, education, and exceptional animal care. AWCC welcomes injured and orphaned animals throughout the year, offering them spacious enclosures and top-notch care. Many animals that arrive at AWCC become permanent residents, ensuring they always have a home. The Center spans over 200 acres of expansive habitats, allowing animals to feel at home and exhibit their natural “wild” behaviors. Visitors can observe brown bears cooling off in the water, a bull moose strutting, wood bison grazing on pastures, and more.
- Beluga Point - This is a favored stop along the Seward Highway, offering 180-degree views of Turnagain Arm. It features a large viewing area equipped with spotting scopes and interpretive signs. This location is ideal for observing the bore tide, where the incoming tide spans the entire width of Turnagain Arm and can reach six feet in height as it rushes in. Visitors can watch kayakers and surfers ride the wave for several miles and look for beluga whales rolling in the surf, especially starting in September.
