The real Crete - The experience was spectacular. Spiros, our guide was amazing. He was very informative, cordial, and very entertaining. He took us to see the real Crete, not the tourist traps that so many people fall into. We would recommend Spiros and this tour 100%.

What a beautiful way to explore Crete! - What a beautiful way to explore Crete! Me and my partner were visiting Crete for the first time and I really wanted us to not only see the famous landmarks but also experience the local culture. I am so glad I booked this tour! It was 2 of us and one more couple on this tour - which was great as we got along very well ☺️ Our guide Stavros was amazing! Super friendly, knowledgeable and flexible! The whole experience felt so natural, we didn’t rush, got enough time to explore Knossos palace, and Lasithi Plateu. We visited local villages, learnt about olive oil processing, tasted freshly pressed olive oil and local olives, honey, yoghurt and raki. We saw the windmills and learnt about their history and farming practices. We drank amazing coffee and visited a local church in the mountains. We had a go at pottery making ☺️, we picked local strawberries and had some local wine under fruit trees in the mountains! We saw the Cave of Zeus, unfortunately we couldn’t go inside since its pending renovation since recent earthquake, but regardless of that our experience of Crete couldn’t be any better! We also tasted different varieties of grapes, learnt about herbs, goats and local islands. We saw one of the oldest trees (over 2000 years old)! Stavros, you have a great sense of humour, you are very knowledgeable and really made us feel so welcome! Thank you so much for your hospitality! ☺️🌻 ps great updates throughout the booking experience from Nikos, we knew the exact pick up location and pick up time and it was super easy to communicate ☺️ highly recommend to anyone who is a newby to Crete and want to experience the landmarks as well as the culture ☺️

Must do - An amazing experience. Sypros is clearly a man who adores the island while also being very true to the history and the decline of some of the villages. The stories of these villages make me want to move my entire family there to restart the whole place up again. The experiences of seeing the olive oil being made and of picking strawberries while drinking wine are dreams I will keep revisiting. Buy some of his uncles honey, he's a very nice man. The pottery shop has some of the greatest pieces I've seen and I immediately spent 70 euros in there. The restaurant he took us to for lunch was to die for and the coffee shop was the most heart warming place I've ever seen. Glad I managed to introduce him to Glenfiddich and 80 shilling.

A taste of Crete - The communication from the company after booking and prior to the tour was excellent. Our tour guide Spyros arrived early and was very friendly knowledgeable and engaging. The olive oil mill was interesting and the tour around the Lasithi plateau was lovely - it is a beautiful place and Spyros introduced us to the windmills, views, cafes, foods - herbs and fruits, goats , sheep, locals and restaurants of the area of which he was clearly proud. We spoke at length about many subjects whilst driving and had lots of laughs. The Zeus cave is closed following an earthquake so we missed that but overall the general tour was lovely and we learned far more about Crete than we may have otherwise done. The Gnossos palace is clearly an immense achievement and bigger than expected. We didn’t pay for a tour guide or audio tour which overall was probably a mistake as not sure that just reading the information boards gave as much impact. It was also blisteringly hot for anyone from the UK. The gift shop had very good air conditioning though !! Would definitely recommend but probably should remove Zeus Cave from the advert.

A day like with a good friend - The tour with Spyros was just wonderful from start to finish. From the first moment he welcomed us as warmly as if we had known each other forever. He is not only an excellent guide, but also a proud Cretan who shows his homeland with real passion. We started the day by visiting an olive oil plant and then drove through picturesque villages where we could enjoy local coffee and pastries. On the Lassithi Plateau, Spyros told us exciting stories about the region, its people and traditions. Strawberry picking is particularly memorable – a simple but very personal moment that made the day even more beautiful. The subsequent tasting of local Greek yogurt in Spyros’ second home made it even more personal. The Hands-On Approach at a pottery shop, where you could form your own small pot with support, enabled ES to experience the art of craftsmanship first hand. The highlight was the visit to the palace of Knossos. Spyros’ enthusiasm, deep knowledge and personal nature made the tour very special. ES brings history to life while at the same time giving the feeling of being part of everyday Cretan life. Tip for fellow travelers: Be open and open-minded – especially when traveling with others. A good group dynamic makes this day even more beautiful. Conclusion: If you not only want to see Crete, but also feel it, Spyros is the place to be. We would do the tour again anytime!

We love Crete and Spyros! - Spyros was a great, knowledgeable, and thoughtful guide, and made us feel super welcome in Crete. We had a superb time exploring the Lasithi plateau, learning how olive oil is made, trying traditional Greek coffee, and best of all, tasting authentic Greek yoghurt and local produce in his home! It honestly felt like hanging out with a friend, with Spyros sharing really interesting stories.

You will not regret booking this! - If you are thinking about booking, DO IT. This was an amazing experience! I would recommend this tour to anyone. Spyros allowed us to his summer home to see his vast garden. We went into the village and had coffee, and even met one of his friends who hosted us in his home to learn about his family history and eat fresh melon from his garden. We also had a traditional lunch near the plateau. My boyfriend and I shared three dishes, the dakos, wine leaves (made with zucchini flower blooms), and the Moussaka. All of which were delicious, but I can’t get the dakos or the wine leaves out of my mind! This made our Crete experience so memorable.
