Analamazaotra Special Reserve - After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Analamazaotra National Park. It’s best to leave the hotel early (around 7:30 AM) to efficiently meet the Indri-Indri and Diademed Sifaka in their natural habitat. The tour lasts about 3 hours. Within a mile of the park, the unique call of the Indri can be heard early in the morning until noon and again in the late afternoon. Indris, known as Babakoto in Malagasy, are the largest living lemurs, reaching up to 1 meter. Andasibe is ideal for observing Indris, as several families are accustomed to humans. They live in small groups and cannot survive in captivity. Numerous legends explain their origins, as they are considered sacred in Madagascar. Besides the Indri, 13 other lemur species inhabit these forests, including the woody lemur, grey bamboo lemur, diademed sifaka, brown lemur, red mouse-lemur, red-bellied lemur, black and white ruffed lemur, and aye-aye.
In the afternoon, enjoy a close encounter with lemurs on Lemurs Island and explore various species at the Vakona Reserve Zoo, where crocodiles, native birds, and other wildlife reside in well-maintained surroundings. Around 6:30 PM, conclude the day with a guided night visit lasting 1.5 hours, then return to the hotel.
