Recommendation! Intimate and authentic experience - The tour was fantastic. Marta, the owner of a small local coffee plantation, and Delmy, the English-speaking guide, picked me up at the main place in San Pedro Las Huertas, and from the very beginning it felt warm and welcoming. (Surprisingly, I was the only visitor on this tour, but that didn’t dampen Marta and Delmy’s enthusiasm or energy for a moment.) After a short walk to a small plantation — filled with lots of information about coffee cultivation, other plants, and all sorts of fascinating details — we headed back to the village to Marta’s home. There, she showed me the traditional process of coffee preparation, including grinding on a lava stone and roasting over a wood stove. And finaly the coffee just tasted unbelievable good. I was truly impressed — this is a clear recommendation for anyone who prefers an intimate, authentic experience. But matching with the down to earth atmosphere there’s no organized pick‑up service from Antigua. I simply walked from Antigua to San Pedro Las Huertas. (about 45 minutes) and returned by local bus (3 quetzales).

Interacting and engaging - Highly recommend this tour! Axel and Marta were great guides. They provided lots of historical context and in depth information about the coffee cultivation process. There is a little bit of a hike (15-25 minutes), so wear shoes appropriate for that. Roasting, grinding, and tasting the coffee at the end of the tour was really cool. This tour supports the farmers directly, so I recommend it over bigger tour companies’ offerings.

Amazing tour with two great guides! - This was an amazing coffee farm tour with two great guides! Axel met me right on time at the pick up spot, and we were joined shortly after by Martha. We then traveled to the coffee farm, where they explained the whole coffee growing process to me. Then they showed me how to separate the best of the coffee beans from the others, how to grind the coffee beans, and how to make the coffee itself. It was a very hands-on experience, which made it even more intersting.

Enlightening tour of coffee groves in Anitgua - I had an absolutely wonderful visit to Antigua, Guatemala and enjoyed a fabulous tour of a coffee grove just outside of the city. My tour guide was Axel Zabaleta. He was knowledgeable, personable, and hospitable. My daughter and I felt this was the highlight of our 3-day trip.

Super authentic coffee tour - This morning we went to the coffee plantation with our guide Delmy and farmer Martha. Here we have all the explanations about growing coffee. In addition, on the way there we received explanations about the different flora and fauna we encountered. We were also able to ask all questions about guatamala, history and life. The tour ends at Martha’s house where you can roast, grind and brew your own coffee under her guidance.

Fantastic Educational Experience for the Whole Family - We got far more than we expected from this experience! The tour guide offered well-informed commentary on history, culture, and economics along with the nature and coffee tour we expected. He and Marta, the farmer who showed us her coffee crop, shared a lot of engaged information and an unexpected warmth and hospitality. We would do the tour again and recommend it to our friends. It's a family-friendly experience; we even took our seven-month-old baby with us and had no issues.
